Hi trainguy,
Thanks for your reaction. I'm using NX Nastran, so the parameters mentioned in the Handbook aren't of much use. I looked in to the handbook though, to see if I can find any hints, but it's al the usual stuff.
I work at a reseller... but having knowledge of and experience with al...
Hello Femap / Nastran users,
When using contact in an Advanced Nonlinear analysis (SOL601), I often have trouble to get convergence. At the moment I have a model of a circular ring that is seated in a shallow groove. The ring is pre-tensioned, so want to stay in the groove. Now I'm trying to...
We've performed a simple test: A cube meshed with 125 Hex elements, no constraints, only a surface force applied. The option Inertia Relief (automatic), INREL,-2, has been set. The results show a logical deformation, the cube is compressed by the force in one direction. NX Nastran adds an...
When performing a static analysis with use of inertia relief, one will get translations and stresses as results. Is it also possible to read out the acceleration that was used during the analysis?
I would like to view how a RBE3 element distributes a force. I've made a simple model with 1 central node, and at a radius 5 other nodes. All 5 nodes have Tx,Ty,Tz constaint. Now I apply a force on the central node. In the results I'm looking for the forces on the dependant nodes. I can only get...
Hello Blas,
Did you notice any performance issues with this version? As a reseller we get some reaction from customers who say the previous version (v10.1.1.) could handle large models (up to 1e6 nodes) much better.
We don't have these issues our selves and don't know where to look for...
The problem lies in a sort of bug in Femap. Below I summed all information.
Thank you Namklof for your reaction. I knew about the springs but needed real contact element.

Siemens made a Problem report that will be solved soon (high priority):

cross-section of a revolved structure, modelled with 2D axisymmetric parabolic elements.
There is a gap between the two parts. Model is in global XZ plane, gap between parts is oriented in vertical direction so contact should be found in x direction.
I've tried slide lines and gap elements...
