Thanks mechfeeney, so just to clarify, Do you mean installing and running the Abaqus software from my PC internal harddrive (C:/) and having my analysis runs directed to my external HD. Or are you suggesting that when the analysis run completes on my internal HD then transfer all the analysis...

Have you tried partitioning the model to achieve what you want?

You could model seperate parts and tie them together, then you can mesh each part with a different mesh density. Or, you could use bias meshing, where you define a high number of elements in the contact zone and less in the areas you are not so concerned about. Hope that helps.
