    FH Self-Tapping Screw

McMaster I like them for their variety. I don't see loading info, though. I expect it depends mostly on the material it's threaded into.

    Thread Failure in Aluminum Casting

If threads in aluminum were a bad idea in general, I wouldn't think using an insert that was itself threaded into the aluminum would be any better. I can see an advantage where disassembly/reassembly is frequent to lessen chances things go wrong then.

Cargill FR3 natural ester fluid field transformer filling.

That's the point of biodegradability. Expose it to oxygen and moisture and it degrades to something else. I once asked the Cooper rep why we wanted degradable insulation, and he had to think about it awhile.

    CONNECTING PE TO CLEAN EARTHSYSTEM

Possibly a fatality during a ground fault when two grounds at separate potentials are bridged by a human. See the graphic in the post above.

    Distance relay on IBR

Inverter Based Resource given the context. The issue is that inverters have proprietary algorithms and don't behave at all like synchronous machines. Suggest line differential or traveling wave protection.

    Forum policy disappeared

Kinda hard to find, and it looks like a forum, one of two official forums. Scroll to the bottom of any page, including this one, to see "Terms and rules." Suggest putting the policy with the Terms/rules, or putting a link to it at the page bottom next to the Terms/rules link.

solar transformer unbalance LV phase to ground voltage

Why do you expect the line to ground voltage to be balanced on an un-grounded system, and what is the problem you are trying to solve?

transformer for connecting 34.5 to 12.47 kV

Manufacturer three said wye-wye and the first manufacturer that previously seemed to recommend the auto now agrees. Looks like that’s what we’ll specify.

    Power Factor

Waross, My local utility still bases its billing on "average" power factor. kVAh is not and never was directly measured. Some trig is applied to the kWh and kvarh to derive the average pf. Traditionally, two kWh electro-mechanical meters were used, one being fed from a reactiformer that...

Why just look at project2025? Suggest looking at project2018 to see what the future holds.

scottf, Where do you connect H2 of that 2400/4160Y V PT?

    Net Zero Disaster

I suppose the external links SEIA are biased as well? The gridinfo.com link claims crystalline silicon. Of course Mr. Wide Awake provided no backup at all to his assertions. If you like Wikipedia:

    Net Zero Disaster

Good thing we have X to provide the unbiased truth about what's in the panels. Just can't trust those lying manufacturer members of the trade association.

    type b plug for thailand

With a bit of help from Google Translate: Is this residential or industrial use? I own a number of adapters I use for overseas travel. None of them change voltage or frequency, they simply adapt the blades so they fit. The UL devices I'm adapting of course need to be rated to allow a range of...

    Nuclear vs wind+solar+storage American edition

Sodium (liquid metal) cooled reactors are not new. I worked at Fermi I the summer of '75 during the decommissioning. The coolant had been put into barrels and sealed while it was still too hot. The gaskets melted and some of the sodium leaked and reacted with the air. My job was to remove and...

    Overvoltage During Earth Fault

The 33kV neutral definitely shifts. I see the full 33 kV line to line voltage line to ground on the un-faulted phases with a bolted fault. This overvoltage does not show up on the 400 V side. Tried various fault impedances as well as inserting some non-zero values in the transformer ground, but...

    Overvoltage During Earth Fault

I had thought the distance might add some impedance that would shift the neutral causing overvoltage in un-faulted phases. A simple model in Oneliner says otherwise. I only see voltage sags on the 400 V side.
