Hydraulic Pump Power Requirement

For the pressure, I have not run the system yet. But seems your calculation tallies with mine. Probably pointless to test the system and get a larger pump (C) sorted out first.. The data that I have on hand: Water Pump (A) <- Hydraulic Motor (B) <- Hydraulic Pump (C) <- Engine (D) Hydraulic...

    Hydraulic Pump Power Requirement

Hi guys, I have a water pump (A) with the rated power of 5kW. Water pump (A) will be directly driven by a hydraulic motor (B) via a coupling. From datasheet, hydraulic motor (B) runs at 13Nm and 371rpm at 15L/min. If I use the power formula P = Tor. (Nm) x Rotation Speed (rpm) / 9549: Power...

    Wing Nut and belt tensioning

Regarding bigger springs, I saw this: The handbrake lever looks convenient. I always thought only serpentine belts can achieve that kind of tension and smooth running during operation. In many of the machines I noticed, V-belts tend to vibrate in a blazing fast oscillation. Agree, no...

    Wing Nut and belt tensioning

This is a good idea. I imagine it having wings on the collar. Adding T bolt, it will be 100% spanner free. Collar sits on another collar to prevent horizontal movement during hand turning, and T bolt locks it up. Yeah, indeed that the wing nut grip length is short, and yes to the bushing...

    Wing Nut and belt tensioning

Brian, indeed I was trying to space out the threads so that it doesn't vibrate with the metal sheet. MintJulep, I have thought of this before. But to double it stacking/locking one another seems pretty tall and the threaded hook does not have enough length to accommodate 2 metal knobs...

Plain bearing use and greasing design

Alright. I just need to decide a design at this point. If plain bearings without greasing (or minimal greasing) does the job.. i'll go with that, it's a more economical approach in my region here. I have never tried sliders/blocks before, but i'm open to the idea.

Plain bearing use and greasing design

Fun.. but risky if not designed well. there's no suspension to dampen and bearing will take a lift and knock on track if scissor wobbles at the highest position. Z axis Clearance for the deep groove ball bearing in the track right now is 1mm. Won't UHMWPE break under high pressure?

Plain bearing use and greasing design

It's basically a crawler, carrying things like fruits and sand/rock. The bearing sits inside the track circled in red. Load on bucket is about 2 ton max.

Plain bearing use and greasing design

What about the "anti-abrasion" sliders? Looks like a combination of engineering plastic with metal core on the inside. https://youtu.be/Dj8aDX74Rrw?t=65

Plain bearing use and greasing design

that looks like a solid steel roller.. hmm. I have concerns that debris will instantly kill the plain bearings if not sealed. Maybe I am wrong in designing it this way.

    Wing Nut and belt tensioning

15 years without re-tensioning? that's beyond impressive! I have always thought that V-Belts require constant tension adjustment because it can get "too tight". The engine of this system is using V-belt. To leave it without adjustment during operation for 6 months is already an impressive feat...

Plain bearing use and greasing design

Dear all, This is on greasing design for plain bearings. background story: A scissor lift. 2x deep groove ball bearing stacked on each side (each track). one of the deep groove ball bearings busted suspected due to irregular track surface. Now intend to use plain bearings. thread...

    Hydraulic oil cooler "net"

Thank you. I guess it boils down to just inspecting and manually cleaning it on a frequent basis.

    Hydraulic oil cooler "net"

hmm.. Space around the cooler is limited for now. Looks like a constant reverse fan trigger is the only feasible choice for an almost "maintenance free" operation. If fins are well covered with debris in plantation where there's no equipment, river water and manual washing is the way to go...

    Wing Nut and belt tensioning

we have a 3 B-Type V-belt tensioner for engine with a spring pulling the tensioner roller. The spring is then connected to a stud/hook through the cabin and wing nut is used to pull up the spring to increase the belt tension. 2 wing nuts are used, one on top of console and one at the bottom of...

    Hydraulic oil cooler "net"

Thermal sensors might not be feasible i think? as temperature stays constantly warm during operation, but this is a good idea though. Perhaps a device with a potentiometer to adjust the reverse polarity trigger every, say, how many hours once, and running for like 30 seconds. Once engine turns...

    Hydraulic oil cooler "net"

Thanks for your input so far guys. The fan is pulling out air from the matrix (from inside) How is the reversal function work? Never heard of it before. Is it some sort of an automated sensor that reversed the polarity?

    Hydraulic oil cooler "net"

Dear all, Is it a bad thing to add a net to the hydraulic oil cooler fin side? The mesh can be pulled up for cleaning. The cooler is mounted on a crawler transporter to be used in sandy and muddy places (forest/plantation). The reason this decision was made because of wanting to clear off...

Bearing failure, but a weird one

Will this be an acceptable design for the scissor lift? There is a 1mm gap for the plain bearing. https://res.cloudinary.com/engineering-com/image/upload/v1709861441/tips/Drawing1-Layout1_rfiiup.pdf As for reading bearing load capacity: 6208: Static Load Capacity: 19kN Dynamic Load Capacity...

Bearing failure, but a weird one

It does not appear to me there is any room allowed for the bearing to climb over anything. This would be in keeping with the need for resistance to any vertical movement at the base of a scissor lift link. If a stacked bearing does not seat completely on the track, will it also cause one of the...
