HELP!!! How should I call out my intent

Hi All, I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to call out my design intent on the attached part. The two Ø.0600 holes need to be parallel to each other and parallel to both datums B and A. Is there a better way to call out my intent over the way I did it? Thanks for your input.

    Triad Size

@DD24 The red, green, and blue triad in the corner is very small in relation to the size of the screen. If I do a screen capture of it to place next to a model, it is very small. I would like to make it a bit larger to make the axis directions more clear. A screen capture of this triad is...

    Triad Size

I Googled and searched here and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if it's possible to increase the size of the triad that's down in the corner. I want to use that to identify axis directions in a report I'm making. Thanks

    Non Linear Fixtures/Contacts

Hi All, I'm having trouble getting results I feel are plausible running a non linear shock simulation. I have essentially a metal box with lots of components inside. In operation, the box mounts to a flat rigid panel that will undergo pyro shock loading. The box mounting surface is planer...

Concerned that Modal Frequencies are Close Together

@FEA way, Thanks for the reply. Changing the mesh yields the same results. I think using a bonded contact between the housing and thicker rigid plate would not give accurate results as the entire mounting surface would be 'stuck' to the rigid plate. In reality, the plate could slide and...

Concerned that Modal Frequencies are Close Together

Hi All, Been having fun using the vibration side of SW simulation over the last couple months. I am concerned about the modal analysis results on an aluminum billet housing assy. I ran the study out to 48 modes and they start at 538 Hz and go to 865 Hz. There are a lot of resonant frequencies...

how to include damping in a shock study

Duh - I now recall seeing this option if I use CQC. I think I forgot about this because not all my materials have a damping factor specified in the material properties and wanted to globally set it like I did in my random study. It won't be too hard to go in and artificially set them all to 5%...

how to include damping in a shock study

Hi All, I need to perform a shock study that included damping. From all my research, a Response Spectrum Analysis is the study used for shock. I don't see where damping can be included in this study. Is there another study I can use for shock that would include damping. My customer has...

    Inventor to Solidworks Translation

We are partnering up with another company that uses Inventor 2019 while we use SW v2017. They need to share files with us but we're having difficulty. 3D Connect doesn't work because SW2017 can only work with Inventor v2016 and older. Next, we tried STP files and most of the assemblies only...

    Reverse Engineering a Spline

This is strange. I've checked back here nearly every day hoping for a reply and just saw yours today. Thanks for the reply. I was hoping you would reply as you seem pretty knowledgeable around here. I measured the 25.00 major diameter right next to the splines using my Mitutoyo calipers...

    Reverse Engineering a Spline

Hi All, I'm attempting to reverse engineer a motorcycle transmission shaft that has recently gone obsolete. The shaft has two sets of splines neither of which I can readily identify. The one on the end where the sprocket mounts has an involute profile while the other two where the...

Keyway Dimensioning (with drawing this time)

I posed this question before but failed to provide a drawing. My question is how to dimension the two keyways to control the clocking tolerance of the second keyway relative to each other. The symmetry callout would only ensure one keyway is symmetric to the OD. Thanks for your...

    Keyway dimensioning

Hi All, I am designing a part that has two keyways 180 degrees apart on a single large diameter shaft. The intention of the keys/keyways is to allow axial motion of a female sleeve to which the keys are mounted while preventing rotational motion. It is desired that there is a minimum amount...

    BSPP Fitting Questions

Mike, Good idea about the non catalog items. I will check out the Loctite product. Thanks

    BSPP Fitting Questions

Thanks for the response but I looked at Swagelok but didn't find anything. Swagelok is always one of the places I check. Can the fittings be rotated to align them in a desired direction? I'm not sure how much the sealing washers can crush.

    BSPP Fitting Questions

Greetings, I have never used anything that has a BSPP fitting until now. The Festco cylinder I'm sourcing has G1/4 ports. Due to radial constraints I need to install an elbow right at the cylinder port. I am having a heck of a time finding G elbows here in the US. Anyone know any good sources...

Help finding a vendor for this welding wire liner

TenPenny, That's exactly what I was after. Thanks a bunch.

Help finding a vendor for this welding wire liner

It is not interlocking like flex conduit used in the electrical industry. It is made from elliptical cross section spring steel. I only called it a liner as that's what welders call them. A more generic term would be conduit. It is used to guide welding filler wire to the torch tip.

Help finding a vendor for this welding wire liner

Thanks for the replies so far. The one in my photo is from a hand held Miller MIG torch. We are putting it on a machine we are designing.

Help finding a vendor for this welding wire liner

I have been unsuccessful trying to find a vendor for this welding wire liner. I know I can buy it from a welding supply shop like praxair but they only offer it with ends appropriate for installing it in a particular MIG gun. Anyone know what this type of item is called? Maybe something like...
