    NICAD Battery charger using LM317

VE1BLL, I agree adding the idea of a load at U1 gives some some sense of the current flow thru the circuit. Good Job BrianR. -elf

    NICAD Battery charger using LM317

fuseshut, I calculate the U1 output to be ~8.3v going to some load. Since the D1 see 8.7v on the anode and 8.3 on the cathode (~.4v) this diode would not be turned on and the RC battery would be charging thru the main battery. When the main battery starts going lower than the min drop...

    ttl output to cmos input

killabyte, by the way this would be an inverted signal so if that;s a problem you might have to use a second transistor to get back to the original non inverted form. -elf

    ttl output to cmos input

killabyte, You might be able to use a single transistor to convert the logic 5v by driving the base with the logic (5v) then using the open collector with a resistor tied to the 12 or 5volt ps with a zener to set the 2.9volt level to the cmos. -elf

Any one have this TI part: TLV3501AIDBVT

nuclearsiloman, Your right they leave off the bvt when searching, They got me. Is there any way of makeing the dual device (8pin) fit your in your prototype? -elf

Any one have this TI part: TLV3501AIDBVT

nuclearsiloman, If you search crosscomponents.com you will find that they show they have 155ea of this device. You may also want to try partminer.com -elf

    Constant current sources

raivo, The simple answer is that almost any supply can be a current source, although different load types may favor different output types. The main feature is the feedback. Measuring the current thru the load (not the Voltage)by a series resister (shunt) or with a hall effect probe or a...

Generation of particles from two rubbing surfaces

danap2005, Ir is right, any mechinically touching parts are usally enclosed in a case sometimes with exhaust ported out to a gray area (class 1000 or so). In addition most surfaces above the process parts are structered to allow clean air (class 1) to laminar flow without turbelance...

    TEL Semiconductor tools are abysmal

TuckFel, I feel your pain. Hardware even it it's bad can just be changed out more frequently or have it's maintenance schedule time decreased. Software on the other hand is diffcult because on one walks around with source code and compliers to fix these types of problems. I like to have...

    What's this?

tomhl100, Sounds like a anode for a rf etcher. Its common to place a Silicon wafer on a plate (cathode) & place above it a anode with holes to feed argon, silicon tetafloride or other gas into a vacuum chamber just above the wafer. Then rf is introduced on to the catode which excits...

Know of a good high voltage, very low load probe?

zappedagain, take a look at a Tektronix P6015 freq compensated probe or there newer replacement model and see if their specs meet your needs. -elf

Current limiting the output of a power supply.

drpappy, Some people use a soft start circuit where they place a current limiting resistor in series with the output of the PS. When the voltage comes up to the proper value they energizes a relay that shorts out the current limting resistor and connects the load at the same time. this...

    Estimating THD of a system

Hi Skogsgurra, Yes your right about the question of noise, just adding to the conversation. Yes, I have no experimental evidence that would indicate your wrong on your sqrt of the sum of the squares formula. I think it just seemed logical to me that the THD's would be additive. I...

    Clicking Noise in Analog Multiplexers

2sb18, I don't think that slowing up the switch signal will work on this device. It looks to be driven by logic gates which will switch when the threshold voltage is reached. You might try using a single fet for each switch and ramping the control signal as stated above. If using a low...

    Estimating THD of a system

skogsgurra, Just a question, How does your formula work if you input a signal into an Ideal .3% thd amp would you not have a circuit with < .3 thd? Then that signal into a .6 Ideal amp which would add another .6 thd. This would seem to be true if the circuits were independent. If not...

    Strange Oscillation

tandy2, Consider reducing both the feedback and input resistors. Just short them out and see if this eliminates the problem, -elf

Any audio experts? Need help configuring audio input circuit

Auterik, I remember that the output impedance of most line outs is 1k. This can be proved by installing a 1k from the output to gnd. This will give a .5v output with a 1v programmed line out. If that correct then adding a 666 ohm resister from the line out to ground will give .4v...

    inductive LED

Rob, I have never heard of these and found none searching the net. Are they Led driven by a small transformer, or are they truely coupled inductively with the led leads open? I'm assuming these are 60 hertz elements. elf

    DPDT switch for Solenoid

Gray, It looks like you might be overwelming the 9v battery. You may have luck isolating the 9v drive from the 9v logic circuit. Try adding a diode from the battery to a Cap then to your logic circuit (Connected between diode and cap). Then take the 9v battery straight to two relays driven...
