zero reaction force in ABAQUS/STANDARD Contact simulation

Right. The reaction force at the contact point is also 0, which was throwing me off. In fact RF=0 pretty much everywhere except at the restraint. I guess if I want to calculate the reaction force at the contact, I have to calculate the contact stresses and work it out from there. It is probably...

zero reaction force in ABAQUS/STANDARD Contact simulation

Thank you so much! The RF at the restraint is exactly equal to the applied load. I am happy now :)

zero reaction force in ABAQUS/STANDARD Contact simulation

What do you mean by "at the restraint"? The reaction force at the RP is 0 and also at the contact point i.e. top leftmost node where the initial contact is happening.

zero reaction force in ABAQUS/STANDARD Contact simulation

Hello everyone, I am running a load controlled spherical ball contact on a plate. I am using an axisymmetric model of the plate and axisymmetric analytical rigid ball. The plate is simply supported on the edge, so U2=0 on the bottom rightmost node on the plate. I have a RP (reference point)...

E33 strain output for plane stress model

Hello everyone, I am just applying unidirectional strain to a isotropic 2D plate. So I am using 2D plane stress elements CPS4 to model it. My strain direction is 1. So there should be non zero strains in the other 2 directions due to poisson's ratio. But I am always getting E33 = 0 (3 is the...

    Stress-Strain response with softening matrix

I have a square unit cell with a circular fiber, volume fraction = 0.6. So the square is 1x1 and the radius of the fiber is 0.437. The fiber properties are isotropic, E = 72.4 GPa, nu = 0.2. The matrix is isotropic with E = 3.5 GPa, nu = 0.35, and with linear softening behavior which I have...
