    ASME vs TRCU pressure vessel and equipment

    Hi, TRCU is not a manufacturing Code (or design code), but a regulation (similar at PED for Europe). But to get TRCU032 certification, you have to meet ASME requirement (if the base Code is ASME) + GOST requirements, which more restrictives than ASME for several aspects (for example, impact...

    Inspection opening as per UG46

    Dhurjati Sen, man entry is not required by our client. Anyway, it'll be difficult to fir man entry on vessel 24" ND mk3223, Body flange is used for inspection for the first chamber only. The 10"ND nozzle is fitted on second chamber

    Inspection opening as per UG46

    Dears, I have a pressure vessel 24’’ND with 2 chambers, carbon steel, 3mm corrosion allowance. For the fist chamber, there is body flanges assembly. No problem. But the second is totally separated and we have only one flanged nozzle 10’’ ND. Is it enough for opening inspection or do I need to...

    Which grades of carbon steel for MDMT = -52¦C

    Dear all, I'm wondering which grades of carbon steel are suitable for an MDMT = -52°C for pressure vessel as par ASME VIII Div 1? I assume that I have to follow the UCS68 rules. Is PWHT mandatory ? Impact test value as per UCS68(b) ? What are the other specific requirements, due to...

    Impact test results : SA20 vs UG84

    Hi, I would like to get explanation regarding the following. I have a pressure vessel in SA537 Class 2, wall thk = 60mm (2 23/64"), MDMT=-50°C (-58°F). I shall perform impact tests (specific request from client) and I'm wondering what will be the minimum valeur on those tests. According to SA20...

    Impact test for SA516Gr60N as per SA20

    Thank bhusban76, It's very clear now. Sorry, but English is not my mother language and I didn't want to have a wrong understanding. regards

    Impact test for SA516Gr60N as per SA20

    From my understanding (but may be I'm wrong), for SA516, impact tests are mandatories as per Section 12.1, even in case of nothing else was requested in purchase order. Are you sure regarding your interpretation?

    Impact test for SA516Gr60N as per SA20

    We are purchasing plates in SA516Gr60N with thicknes = 1/3" (8.5mm) and 1" (25mm). I received material certifcats and I'm suprised because : - for plate thk=1" => impact tes at -51°C (-60°F) according to SA20 table A2.15 = no problem - for plate thk = 1/3" (8.5mm) => impact test at -20°C (-4°F)...

    MDMT and impact test temperature

    Thank weldtek. I'm look into in UG84(b)(2)and, if I understand correctly, it's able to perform impact test at warmer temperature than MDMT according to table UG84-4 Right ? It means, for SA516Gr60N, it'll be able to perform impact test required by UCS66 at -30°F (-34°C) because yield strength...

    MDMT and impact test temperature

    Hi everyone, We'll manufacture pressure vessel using SA516 Gr 60N as per ASME VIII Div 1 with requested MDMT = -40°F. According to UCS66, impact tests are required as per UG84. My question is, the impact test required by UCS 66 shall be done at -40°F (MDMT) or as per temperature required by...
