are there any problem in the PSV design

Hi Gray, besides the stress concern, for PSV outlet pipe conncetion, if the flange directly weld with elbow, then the pressure drop is higher than the one with a piece pup of spool, is it good for the system? and another point, not for PSV, let's say an elbow directly weld with elbow with...

are there any problem in the PSV design

Hi DGRayPPD, thank you for your reply. My concern is there could be a "welding stress" at the connection of elbow and flange, the stress could not be evenly distributed during welding, and this could possible cause corrosion after many years, and it's not good for mechanical integrity. it...

are there any problem in the PSV design

Hi George, thank you for your reply, I'm not meaning the block valve, I want to say the PSV flange welded directly with elbow, I'd prefer to first weld with a short spool, and then connect with pipe. Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

are there any problem in the PSV design

Hi DGRayPPD, thank you for your comments, I made a wrong explanation above, what I mean is the PSV outlet flange directly welded with elbow, which I believe it should first welded with a spool and then with an elbow Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

are there any problem in the PSV design

thank you georgeverghese, so you mean it should be connected with a straight spool at the discharge of PSV, right? Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

are there any problem in the PSV design

Thank you Latexman, yes, the inlet valve size is smaller than the PSV valve size which could cause high pressure drop. Is it also a problem that the elbow directely connected with a straigh pipe? is it allowable? thank you! Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

are there any problem in the PSV design

Hi, LittleInch, thank you for your comments. it's true that we normally take away the PSV when we'd like to have a test. it's normaly done offline test. Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

are there any problem in the PSV design

Dear engineers: Attached is an installed pressure safety valve? are there any problem in the design? In my view, the discharge pipe is directly connected with elbow, is it necessary to conncet a spool and then connect with the pipe? what do you think of it? thank you! Youth is not a time of...

drill a square rectangular hole(850mm*300mm) on a blast resistant wall of instrument cabinet room

Dear engineers: I received an engineering deviation recently, it's planning to drill a hole on the balst resistant wall of instrument cabinet room because the design institution forgot to design instrument rack and cable trays. My question is: is this kind of hole can influence the...

upstream and downstream pipe length of rotameter flow meter

Hi Little Inch, thank you a lot for your detailed reply and informative link, then it's clear that there is no requirement of upstream and downstream of straight length pipe for rotameter. Youth is not a time of life, it's a state of mind.

upstream and downstream pipe length of rotameter flow meter

Dear Engineers: I'd like to ask a question: what is the minimum length of upstream and downstream for rotameter flow meter? Normally, upstream is 5D of the diameter and downstream is 3D of the diameter, but I met with one possible problem: sometimes, it's hard to make perfect flange coaxiality...

the chemical storage tank farm bund(dike) design

Thank MJCoin! The document you recommend is pretty useful. I'm not designing a chemical dike, I just want to learn something about the dike design since I found the Buncefiled report that the dike was not designed with metal waterstops and also catastrophic failure of the walls at pipe...

the chemical storage tank farm bund(dike) design

Thank you MJCronin There is no specific liquid. I read an article about the preferred dike design regarding to flammable liquid. I understand incombustible material should be used to seal the penetration pipe and tank space be consired based on code and standard. I'd like to ask if there is a...

the chemical storage tank farm bund(dike) design

I'd like to ask an question about bund shape design. In order to contain the chemical imperviousely during storage tank crack or catch a fire. the bund are suggested to design like sea wall with slope(see the attachment), this can be stronger than vertical bund wall. As the incident...
