There is a bunch of great information on the Living Heart Project which is done in Abaqus however I suspect that some of the techniques can be transfered to LS-DYNA.

When you add a part instance into an Abaqus assembly you can offset it. I hope this helps.

On first inspection why are you not using shells? Aside from that here are the steps that I used to create the mesh below and attached.
1. Converted to independent parts in the assembly. To make it easier to change them all at once
2. For the face panels I used a local seed of 3 elements...
Everything sounds right from your description. Can you share your models or a simplified non-proprietary model?

Have you tried to run on a fresh reboot with nothing else running? It sounds like you might have something else that's a memory leak. While running keep track of the task manager periodically.
Did you check out the DAT, MSG and STA files also?
I hope this helps.

Hi Ahmad,
I own a reseller of Abaqus among other Dassault products based in the US. I can confirm that the Simulia training is a very good option if you can afford it both in term of cost and usually more importantly, being away from the office for a week.
Most of my customers take a...

I'll pass on your comments to the meeting organizer.
Are you planning on going to the meeting? If so look me up.

Free Life Sciences Special Interest Group meeting following Abaqus's annual conference May 26 in Boston. I'll be presenting how I created the models for this image as well. Here is a link for the group and the conference...
Unfortunately the Zip file wouldn't download. It could also be that the installation files are nested too deep. Try placing the install files in something like C:\temp then install into the default locations.
I hope this helps.

I searched the knowledge base: "The installation can fail with this error message if any files in the installation package extend over 260 characters including the file path." Basically install to a shorter root directory. Are you changing from the defaults?
I also created a blog on how to...
I believe that now there is a much simpler way. While viewing the results go to Plug-Ins>Tools>STL Export.
I hope this helps.

I'm using Abaqus 2016 so I have uploaded the INP file instead. Here are the steps that I did.
1. Deleted merged solid and emptied the assembly.
2. Added both solids to the assembly.
3. Translated the inclusion 1 unit down.
4. Merged instances deleting the original and retaining the boundaries...
This is certainly a unique simulation!
I would look into Abaqus/Explicit possibly using CEL technology. You may be able to skip CEL using a yield stress.
Unfortunately, your Catia Product did not include the Parts so it's an empty assembly with broken links.
I hope this helps.

I made the change to line 49 but it has an error saying that the IGS is corrupt. I did import the IGS by hand without issue though. On your CAE file can you try compressing the MDB? Also, deleting the mesh then compressing may make it small enough.
By the way what is this? The IGS looks very...
Can you share your CAE file?
Did you create the constraints before merging? They may have been carried over as intelligent as Abaqus can when you merged. Imagine if you have a fixed face then merge 2 parts the face should probably still be fixed.
I hope this helps.

Can you share your CAE file?
In general I usually suggest using a CAD program to create anything but basic geometry. This would be fairly easy in SolidWorks or Catia.
I hope this helps.

Under the project name I create a folder named FEA which houses all the inputs, outputs etc I also create a CAD folder and others as well. I agree with gravityandinertia to keep a document open and take notes real time. I personally use PowerPoints because just about every useful simulation gets...
You spurred me on to create a batch file that I've been planning to do. Basically edit the file in a text editor and it will report the clock time between solves with different CPU and GPU options. I didn't do anything fancy like loops or anything. Just dump the results into Excel to see how the...
