Well our VAR just left and I am left with an overview of what he and our admins talked about. Basically he thinks that because we still have a few folders with 3000-4000 files in them that they are slowing down the vault. We are in the process of getting another server and moving PDM to it's...
We are using 2004/4.1 right now and plan to switch to 2005/1.1 in a few weeks. We also have our VAR coming in tomorrow to check why our PDMW's server is performing so slow and to answer so questions that we have. This Q is among the ones to be asked. Thanks for the replies guys...
True but if you remove the CT's for an interference check couldn't you possibly introduce an error if you accidently moved a fastener ever so slightly because it wasn't mated? That's where I was going with the broken mates. I should have made that a bit more clear.
If you add or remove a cosmetic thread it will change the ID of the hole and therefore break any mates associated with the holes. We ran into an instance where someone added cosmetic threads to a fastener that was used in 100's of assemblies.
Is it possible to transfer all drawings under a high-level assembly from PDM to a local drive at once? With the assemblies you can select to open the top-level assembly and then select all of the files to transfer. Is there something similar that would do the same thing with drawing files for...
Tried it both ways (same sketch and different sketch). Still no avail...guess the simple delete and redimension will have to work for now.
If you want just make a block with a simple cut-extrude feature, goto new drawing and dimension the extrude. save both, the drawing and the part. close...
You have to be very careful on what you color and how you color it. What i mean is that there is a heirarchy of color on the part, ie body, face, feature...etc. Changing color at one level may override color on another level. ie Trying to delete color at a body level when it was applied in a...
That icon shows that you have activated the filter option. I used to accidently do this on occassion as well. If you goto the funnel icon and a lightning bolt under it you can turn on and off your filters. Or you can goto View - Toolbars - Selection Filter.
CBL...In that example there isn't anything that would technically need to be redimensioned. In larger parts there is a possibility that there is a feature that needs dimensioned that is close by and a simple drag & drop would speed things up considerably.
Deleting and redimensioning can become a hassle. I know that other software packages allow this simple operation to be performed and I saw our VAR perform it last night. But I can't seem to replicate it in our office. Maybe a call to our VAR is in order.
This is actually an issue with drawing sheets and not the acutal model or its dimensions. Therefore reference or driving dimensions don't make a difference.
Here is a simple example of what is happening.

The part shows the original cut-extrude that was deleted to cause the dangling dimensions. The drawing show a dangling dimension selected and...
That's why i thought maybe there was a setting that i was missing but i can't find one. We just went through a 'Preventing/Repairing Rebuild Errors' class last night and they were moving the dangling dimensions in 2005. We thought maybe it was a 2005 option but we can't perform the task on our...
