Reattaching dangling dimensions 2

Is it possible to reattach a dangling dimension in the drawing sheet with SW2004? For example: A block is dimensioned with an overall length and the end is cut off. Typically this would result in a dangling dimension within the drawing. We come across this quite often and have seen it done in 2005 but I can't find an option to do it in either 2005 or 2004.

Just drag & drop the dimension attachment point to the new location.

When trying that all it does is move the length of the extension lines

Hmmm ... this is crazy (or I am) ... I did this less than 3 weeks ago on another machine, but cannot do it now on mine.

That's why i thought maybe there was a setting that i was missing but i can't find one. We just went through a 'Preventing/Repairing Rebuild Errors' class last night and they were moving the dangling dimensions in 2005. We thought maybe it was a 2005 option but we can't perform the task on our 2005 test machine.

I have not been able to do this since SW2003. I turned in at beginning of 04 release, but still nothing. Need everyone to turn it in.

OK, I'm not going crazy (debateable). I was trying to re-attach a non sketch-related dimension. If your dimensions are manually placed on a drawing view, you are SOL! You cannot re-attach those. Delete & replace.

OK ... then I must be going crazy [bugeyed] ... I thought I had done this in a drawing just a while ago.

This is an issue with Reference/dimensions. It works with driving dimensions.

This is actually an issue with drawing sheets and not the acutal model or its dimensions. Therefore reference or driving dimensions don't make a difference.

For what it's worth, you can reattach ordinate dimensions.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to reattach the dangling dimensions in the example that I posted?

What are you trying to reattach them to? The example you posted doesn't show any new feature!

Yes, delete them and re-dimension.

Try importing model items, per feature if necessary.

Otherwise, try to dim edges that do not change (bottom of your block instead of the top, etc.) if this is a standard type part.

Deleting and redimensioning can become a hassle. I know that other software packages allow this simple operation to be performed and I saw our VAR perform it last night. But I can't seem to replicate it in our office. Maybe a call to our VAR is in order.

CBL...In that example there isn't anything that would technically need to be redimensioned. In larger parts there is a possibility that there is a feature that needs dimensioned that is close by and a simple drag & drop would speed things up considerably.
