    WRC Calculations on nozzle

Can anyone tell if PV ELITE considers pipe undertolerance while performing WRC calculations for nozzles? When I run the analysis, it does take the pipe undertolerance while performing internal pressure calculations for nozzle, but for WRC, I saw in the report that the software has mentioned...

    Briggs in a reinforcing pad

@r6155: But then, should this threaded tube not be provided on the shell?? Why is this being provided on the reinforcement pad AS per my understanding, tell tale hole is there to tell if the vessel thickness has corroded to a dangerous level.

    Skirt thickness calculations

Moreover, please guide on how to cater for a burried vessel?? How to apply the soil weight as an external pressure on vessel? if, say it is buried at a depth of 5m

    Skirt thickness calculations

@Raymond: Please also guide how to add fireproofing in PV ELITE Plus, if there is a Scheopentator and any other internals (apart from trays and packing), how to deal with them in PV ELITE for correct weight estimation

    Briggs in a reinforcing pad

Thanks all @RaymondN: Yes its a threaded pipe and on it there is a 1/4" NPT . But, my question why is there is a requirement of it with the insulated vessel. In case, if this is there to vent out the welding gases out of the insulation, then I am confused because insulation is placed after the...

Can you please elaborate on the pro

Can you please elaborate on the problem of inspection and ultrasonic testing in case of skirt support on a small diameter cylinder @r6155 thread794-274496

    Briggs in a reinforcing pad

Does anyone have an idea what does briggs mean?? This is a std dwg of a reinforcement pad in which there is coupling coming out of a reinforcing pad and it says that this arrangement is reqd only in case of insulated vessel At the top of there is a 1/4" npt and at bottom there is a 1/2 coupling...

    Skirt thickness calculations

Yes, I understand that they are not subject to pressure loads but my question is about PV ELITE software. Does it not calculate the skirt thickness?? And u can manually enter any thickness?? Any PV ELITE users here??

    Skirt thickness calculations

I was reviewing calculations for vertical vessel on skirt support. In its report generated from PV ELITE software, in the summary table, for the skirt, it lists required thickness of skirt as "No calc" Although the thickness used in calcs for skirt is 10mm Does PV ELITE not calculate the...

    SA 105 flange weld overlay

@r6155: For nozzles upto the size of 20", is it possible to clad them, flanges as per ASME B16.5. And what is a cost effective solution in case of flanges? Cladding or weld overlay

    SA 105 flange weld overlay

Can cladding (316L) be applied on SA 105N flange or is weld overlay of 316L a better option?? There is a cladded vessel and the vendor is taking cladded plate for the shell(material SA 516 70) but for flange of SA 105N, vendor is applying a weld overlay of 316L. So, is cladding possible of a...

    UCS-56 PWHT

Can anyone elaborate this clause of UCS-56 "Above 800°F (425°C), the rate78 of heating shall be not more than 400°F/hr (222°C/h) divided by the maximum metal thickness of the shell or head plate in inches" What does it mean by "divided by the maximum metal thickness of the shell or head plate...

Flow induced vibrations in a vertical vessel

@snTMan: No its its not about overturning of vessel. Its about the vibrations that will be generated. Vibrations are not desired here actually To avoid this, flare legs option was given to vendor but his reply is beyond my comprehension. The only thing i get is that the flare legs optiob is...

Flow induced vibrations in a vertical vessel

There is a vertical vessel supported on leg supports This vessel is a tall vertical vessel and its height is about 11 ft – 8” diameter. This is made of 8” pipe. It is supported on 3 legs made of angle iron. (Total vessel height 3 meters and legs height 1.5 meters) The vessel under strength...

Safety gasket in steel mill rolling stands issue

The one highlighted in red is a quick release coupling mechanism (QRC)through which the roll chocks (highlighted in yellow) are adjusted. This is a hydraulically operated mechanism utilizing hydraulic oil to adjust the roll gap between two rolls of a rolling stand. The safety gasket comes with...
