Corblimey ,
I was thinking that the part # was the link to the external data sheet .
we do use configs in our board parts but have to put all the descriptions etc in .
why not just do the configs and link each config to the appropriate part # and description in the data spread sheet...
heres a thought
can you link a parts internal design table to an external excel file?
for instance a piece of board that has the major dims attached in the internal design table but all the properties such as color part no etc are in an external excel file?
Its a thought becase at the moment...
We have a simple model 4 legs and a four sided frame at the top (basically a table shape.) the overall size is driven by a sketch. All the configs are driven from a design table.
My problem is that i want the bom on the drawing to reflect that over all size in the four tubes but I have to...
At work I am in the process of coming to grips with excel and design tables.
Now what i was wondering was what are some good basic "rules" for keeping design tables easy to edit and easy to handle and easy for others to see how you have set it out?
The company I work for...
maybe a silly suggestion, but why not use the piping ability that solid works has ??.
have only seen piping used once for about 5 mins so I don't know much about it !
it is just a thought!
Not a great description for a small problem,
2 of us tried to fix this one on 2 different machines.
created an extrud thin from an arc 6mm Thick
(sheet metal)
it is 2221mm long
when rolled into a circle has a diameter of 695 inside
150mm high
on 2 machines running 2003 sp5 we tried to unfold it...
scott I think I can beat that temp file size .
When I first started using the cad machines at work I cleaned out the temp file and got rid of around 360 - 380 meg of swx and other temp files .
once my temp file was cleaned out the comp didn't choke (much)hehe.
I think one other caddie at...
Ladies and Gentlemen , we have a winner !!
(and the crowd goes wild) Yes we seem to have sorted the problem.... my Comp did not crash once today and the other caddies only crashed once after we made a cetain change!!
ok ok I'm holding you all in suspence :-)>
GRAPHICS DRIVER Need I say...
some thing else you could do is scan a section of the fine mesh through your scanner and apply it as a texture . I am going to have to do it with peg board for some renderings for a client of ours. Just not sure what it will come out like.!!! see if that works for you ?

Heres something else , when i first open up a dwging file and zoom up to an area on that dwg
the screen "jumps" and quite often "crashes at that same point .(I think it is a driver issue.)But will check out the OS and the other Suggestions and let you know the results on...
thanks Scott for the suggestions will let you know on monday if any of these are going to be applied to the comps(and any results). I had a thought last night could the comps be set up to wake on lan in the BIOS? that seems weird to me for it is not a setting that we have set up!
Thinking about...
no we have not sorted it out !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my comp crashed this morning "Once" and"once" @ the end of the day.
I found out about the open gl tick box in the control panel for the 3dlabs vp560 and it certainly seems to have helped my sys stability.
I phoned our sw...
We think we have a potential culprit for the problems and its not heat. my comp crashed 5 times this morning in sw within an hour . between 7:30 am-8:30 am . I checked in the bios the temp of the proc an it was 39deg quite cool. we think that it is when the factory starts it lights or machinery...

Ctrl-S is used a lot .
we recorded what we were doing at the time of the crashes we had today.
my one crashed 2 times (did not see a pattern)
the other caddies one crashed about 6 times all when he was zooming in and out.
the products that we are modeling aren't exactly monstrous...
thanks for the reply Nathan
will suggest that motherboard monitor to the it specialist.
I also told them to order good power supplies with the comps unfortunately i am umable to confirm at this point in time weather what i told them was listened to.
I even suggested 350 - 500watt power sups ...
we have 2 "new "machines at work , both are pentiun 4s running @1.8 GHZ(intelp4 845 pe chipset on mother board i think) with 512 MEGS RAM AND 3d labs video card 64 meg wildcat(?) dual vid out puts running on win xp.
the problem is we are getting random shut downs and reboots . i want...
sojouner here
You know how I said that I hoped that my comp would soon die .
Well it did i booted it up this morning and loged in and started swx opened up a file started to discuss somthing with a co worker went back to my comp and the machine was off. (!?!>?!?!?) turned it back on...
Mindnumb
you speak of a fire gl"crack" for your 9500 where do you get this "crack" and do you know if it will work on
a ATI 9000 card.(bean counters at it again destroying a reasonable machine.)
one of our machines spat the dummy today and kicked another hard drive...
hi sojouner here
thanks for the feed back .
I was wondering does anyone use the ATI fire gl cards?
I saw a comparison between them and the quadro cards from nvida on tomshardware a while ago , and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they are like?
Incidentally the card I was asking...
