Success Stories on Starting up your Business

Never jump into a sinking industry. It is much better to bide your time with a company cutting you a W-2, using your spare time to open/start a new entity on the side with hopefully a different market twist that pulls you towards a growing industry. Some "give up" or get "fed...

    Greatest Achievement in Engineering

"The epoch changing developments." To apply numbers to this question would seem a good idea. The first number would be the IMPACT (I) of the achievement and the second number the REVERBERATION (R). Apply them on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the highest. Add the two together and you...

    ISO 9001 initial audit

A visitor posted a response to this question:

What ISO checks for in an audit, is to see that you (your company) is doing things they way that they have specified that they are, or that the do. They are just simply checking to see if you are following your own spec.

Hunter
...

Defining a position in an ISP/LEC/CLEC or Carrier?

Sorry, I have never worked in a Telco and do not feel qualified to address your question. It is a good question though.....

Defining a position in an ISP/LEC/CLEC or Carrier?

I don't think the size of the ISP changes the functionality of their work. They all pretty much operate in the maintenance of servers, routers and switches. The equipment and line/system load balancing just gets more expensive and complicated. But, the switching of data packets is all pretty...

Defining a position in an ISP/LEC/CLEC or Carrier?

Not sure exactly, but in a company I used to work in which had an ISP division the Network Engineer was a non-degreed technical computer person who understood Linux and NT operating systems. They also were extremely proficient in computer hardware debugging such as PC servers and Cisco...
