    Part 'Configurations'

If i can then switch between the different models in assemblies then thats absolutely spot on, The same as what I'm used to doing ie creating all the options then suppressing different ones to create the different views. Cheers!

    Part 'Configurations'

Hi BOPman, I think you misunderstand the example of the spring I gave, there is no real time movement involved in Solidworks you can simply created 2 (or more) 'still' models which are called configurations within one model and you have the option to choose which one you insert into an assembly...

    Part 'Configurations'

OK, thanks but could you roughly outline the process or let me know where to start looking, as the Help menu seems to refer to assemblies only. Sorry to be a pain. Cheers!

    Part 'Configurations'

I have recently made the transition from Solidworks to Inventor and am stuck on the following problem… In Solidworks there is an ability to create different views or ‘configurations’ as they are known, of a part and save these as one part number. For example if modelling a spring, could have 2...

    Rack and pinion mates

Sorry if this has been covered before... I am using SW 2006 and am trying to mate/drive a rack and pinion I have modelled. I notice in the 'Whats New' of SW2007 there is a specific rack and pinion mate but I was hoping that this is achievable in SW06 maybe through use of the gear mates(?) but I...

    Modelled Swtiches

Does anyone know of a site that has a comprehensive libray of switches modelled in solidworks? (for the project i am working on there a various telemecanique and omron components)

    Drawing a spring

I need to draw a spring where the ends are close coiled and ground which the standard helix command does not achieve, it just leaves them open. Any ideas as to how i can do this?

Mates - Can they be driven?

Thanks for the feedback, but as far as I can see with the configs. this is a way of showing one of two or more different 'resting' postions for an assembly without seeing the in-between motion and with the simulations it doesn't like the limit mates I have in place and I do not have the tools to...

Mates - Can they be driven?

I am new to Solidorks having moved from Inventor where Constraints (the IV equivalent of mates) can be driven between their limits to give you an animated view of your assembly working. Using the limit mates, under 'advanced mates' is there any way this can be replicated?

    NEW TO INVENTOR

One book i found useul was 'Using Autodesk Inventor' by Ron K.C Cheng, which has several projects and teaches you part modelling, assy modelling, driving contraints etc... Admittedly I used it back on R4, but I think there is an updated version.

    Changing 'Point' colours

Thanks Sean, that will come in useful, but it still hasn't let me change the colour of the points placed for holes (unless i'm missing something). I've tried all the options in the drop down menu but to no avail. Any further suggestions?

    Changing 'Point' colours

Is there a way on R7 to change the colour of the marker that is presented when say you are placing a 'Point,Hole centre'?, as I find the default colour a strain to see. Any help much appreciated.
