Wil,
I spoke with the manufacturing company engineer about this and he said that the "too short" entry was due to the fact that the pin grip length(.375") is below 2X the diameter(.500"). He cited Procurment Specs BPS-F-67 REV AL and HS342 REV AG (which are referenced on the Test Report)and...
Thanks Gents; I plan to call the manufacturer and ask the same question. I suspect "too short" means that the fasteners would not fit into their test apparatus.

I'm looking at a Quality Assurance And Reliability Test Report for a batch of BACB30FM8-6 pins we recieved and under the "Ultimate Tensile Strength/Pounds" column the entry reads "too short". The same entry was made in the "Tension/Tension Fatigue Life/Cycles" column.
Any concerns I should be...
Does anyone have experience or feedback on the use of "E-Drill" to remove blind fasteners on composite structure? The system uses a precision EDM electrode with a built-in water flushing system to prevent heat damage. The EDM cuts the fastener head enought to allow for easy shank removal...
There are actually six groups (1-6) for each fastener series and they overlap as the overall fastener length grows: TL100 Nominal(Group 1,2,3), TL110 1st oversize(Group 2,3 4), TL130 2nd oversize (Group 3,4,5), and TL140 3rd oversize (Group 4,5,6). The cycle repeats at the next nominal size...

Does anyone know the history/background on legacy aircraft drawings that have a "Rivet Symbol Legend" block on the upper right corner of the drawing title page? They show a basic circle, basic circle with a diagonal, etc. depending on the solid rivet head style and diameter.
Was there a code...
I use an SRM for a military aircraft that classifies a major repair as: "A repair that involves restoring two or more primary structural members to original loadcarrying requirements
and/or aerodynamic characteristics is considered a major repair."
Does anyone know of some good references for raised head rivet (installed) inspection criteria? I have an aircraft with numerous MS20470AD4/5 rivets that have mechanical damage to the raised heads from a power tool. Some damage is very minor; while some are almost flat to flush with the...
Has anyone been up to speed on the defective MS21042/NAS1291 self-locking nuts being reported due to improper cad coating processes?
Any wisdom from the Forum would be appreciated.
Not aware of any. There is a similar 12-point tension head bolt: MBT50 that may be available in X or Y oversize configuration. We have had trouble finding these as well (very expensive with outrageous lead time.)
