When I get fail to save error it is usually when I am using configurations. To fix the problem I open each configuration and do a force rebuild "Cnt'l Q" then I am able to save the file as normal. If you are not using configuration do not know if this will work for you.
When I add a dimension to a drawing the dimension name is showing up in parenthesis below the value. Can someone please help and tell me how to turn this off?
SolidWorks 2008 SP2.1
Thanks.
Cadman, that is exactly what the problem is... Limey, I think your suggestion might work the best. Tell the designer if they are haivng trust issues then they need to create the flat pattern before releasing to detail.
thanks for the input..
I have started at a new company and it is more sheet metal based than where I was at before. with that being said, we are experiencing some issues with the trying to create the flat pattern on the detail drawings. We have designers and detailers and the designers do not want to give the...
I did this back in January and it worked. Can't recall exactly what I did we were using 2005 and since we upgrade to 2006 it appeared to work differently. Can anyone verify that this works in 2005?
Don't worry I am in the same boat... I have done this before just having a hard time remembering the process to get waht I need. I am working with the sweep option right now... Maybe it's just time to go home and start over in the morning.
How do you wrap a sketch and have it cut through with out a tappered hole?
I have a pipe I need to place a cam-lock onto. The cut needs to be straight. I have done this before SW2006 but I am banging my head trying to figure out how to do it again.
The slot starts at 90 degree then goes...

I have been experiencing the same issues with trying to place Ballons on assembly drawings. It almost appears like the selection is jumping around and you have to time your mouse click when an edge is highlighted. The solution that works for me is like Limey suggested and use the selection...
I am having a similiar problem with a detail view not printing. It doesn't show up in the print preview and after I try to print it doesn't show up in drawing either. I can get the view back by switching it shaded mode then back to HLR View.
The view seems to have disappeared after I opened the...
Thanks Blimey that is where I downloaded it from and it serves it purpose very well.
Thats great that 80-20 doesn't put the "dip" in the models. I know some of the other manufactures (Bosch) do for whatever reason. It drove me insane for a few days trying to figure out what the problem was. We...
Be sure to check your models that you get of the extrusions. Some suppliers are too exact with the modeling and actually have a slight concave on the sides and will present trouble if you mate the faces. The actual extrusion is made like this so when you tighten down the t-nuts they pull tight...
Weldment is a good way to go, but I feel it limits you if you have to make a changes later on. All I use are extrusions to build frames from and after trying the weldment idea feel that configurations along with design tables is the easiest and quickest way to get what you need. (this is also...
It has to be the installation because I have double and tripled checked the "read only" status. Although we did have someone about 2 weeks ago change a single file to R/W status. Do not know how long it was in this state but as soon as we started having access problems I found it and changed it...
