Hello everyone,
does anyone have an idea how to get Inventor to calculate a cost of some simple furniture details (rectangular and laminated chipwood) and enter results into BOM? Cost Center, iPropertys? But how to make correct syntax in first case or add (new) units into Inventor in second...
Yes, thickness is OK and it is unbelivable but true that IV can not unfold things like that! But SPI and Autopol are really good, for sure. Autodesk could buy one of them and integrate to IV, like it has done with many other fuctionalitys.
Hello sheet metal specialists! Here is one very simple part that I'm designing: http://img409.imageshack.us/my.php?image=loftnm6.jpg and a "very simple" problem I'm having is - how to make flat pattern from it? I have experimented unsuccessfully different ways. Is it still the same jam in IV...
Yes, flexible assembly allows later to pick parts for converting to FEA. (But unfortunately there is really no way for part analyze - like btrueblood mentioned :-( ) But you can this capability buy from ANSYS at any time :-)
Hello!
I have a crane model here. I want to use FEA to calculate stresses and safety factors for the upper beams and do it through a dynamic simulation. The problem is that it seems that I can use in simulation only components that belong to the main assembly but not to some of subassemblys...
I’m sure some of you here are furniture makers. So my question is what kind of partner products or other solutions are aviable to customise IV so that it will fulfill all needs (panel cutting optimizer etc) for furniture design?
Hi!
In Inventor 11 there is a toolbar "Drawing Custom View Standard" and a button on it "Rotate at angle". But - it's never active!? How (when) to use it? Help does'nt say anything about it too...
Yes, it is, and others too... This site here is just usually my first choice. But this time Seans site was the right one :) So, thanks for reminding me, PeterCharles!
I just had this kind of problem yesterday - my IV 11 freezed, when I forced it to analyse one gate-frame. Very simple frame, just 9 "parts" (actually one part - derived from 9-part-assembly), but IV failed...
Hi!
Here is one simple question for IV guru. IV 11 is smart enough to group parts with same names in the BOM. But it seems to me, that IV does not do the same with Frame Generator-created parts?! I have renamed these parts under iProperties (same name to all of them), but this is quite...
Hi! Is it possible to use Dynamic Simulation in IV to simulate air-forced movements (how the piston moves and pushes something on it's way...?)? And can I simulate, for example, how the ball will move after a robot has kicked it? And what about tubes - can I calculate fluid motion, (allowed...
First I would use this possibility to create multibodys - like I did with SolidWorks :). Another reason to use it is, for example, instead of using corner rip. (When I suddenly need a flat pattern from sheet metal box with closed corners...)
Yes, veerap, that's, what I was looking for...!! And you can also change dimensions and update model after double clicking... that feels already almost SW... :) Tnx!
This should be easy and not questioned here, but... How in IV(11) simple (extruded) cut can be done so, that both sides are keeped? Or you can't do this?
Thank you, everybody! I'm sure there will be soon other "fundamental" questions... :) Like this - in SW I can see dimensions just by clicking at some feature or model, but not in IV (seems to me). Trick to change it?!:)
Hi!
I have been SW user, but now "forced" to learn Inventor... There are many things that are different, some are good, some are not. One thing, what I have found strange is that you can constraint sketch at the origin only when you first create it. After you have closed it and opened again -...
I think... We are all different and if one has to build a box - there are several ways to build it and several tools one could use for this job - there are different logics. The same is with SW and IV - it's all about someone's logic and how SW-s or IV-s toolset supports this logic ("when...
Interesting... I'm in assembly drawing and I found that when I try to link custom propertie "SW file name" to one of subassemblyes, then SW puts into note a name of that subassy-s part number?? Is it possible to tell SW what it should do instead?
