    Slop processing on Visbreaker Unit

Dear all, We want to start processing refinery slop oil on Visbreaker oil. Slop properties are similar to light crude oil, but can contain up to 5-10% water. My question is how and where to connect slop line to visbreaker unit. Regards, Milutin

    Flare capacity problem

Hi Emmanuel, For FCCU main fractionator loss of electricity going to cause loss overhead cooling and for sure relief to flare, is it acceptable to backup power source with diesel generator to prevent loss of cooling? For ADU unit it is same scenario for power loss, and you are right excessive...

    Flare capacity problem

Dear all, In our refinery we have some PSV designed to discharge to atmosphere, most of them are on top of ADU, FCCU and visbreaking main fractionators. Because we consider that as safety and environmental issue we want to connect them to flare. This is problem because when we calculated...

    C6+ in Recycle Gas

Hi, what happens with outlet tempetature from Cold High Pressure Separator, did it increased from some reasons? This can increase heavy HC content in recycle gas. Regards,

    SR naphtha reforming

We tried hydrogen stripping but with no effect. I am attached several diagrams for better understanding. http://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=5a221fc3-4570-40e9-81a5-66b1d4c23706&file=R-Delta_T.png...

    SR naphtha reforming

Yes, according to content in recycle gas, chlorides are ok, but anyway we increased dosing rate from 0,6 to 2 ppm, but no response from reactors. At thist stage there are no response on octane nuber even if we increase reactor temperatures it seems to me that catalist is complitely deactivated...

    SR naphtha reforming

We don’t do water and chloride content in reformer feed as regular analysis. I have two recent values for water in reformer feed 7 and 12 ppmw. Method is by coulometry. We also inject 5 ppmw of methanol for water control.

    SR naphtha reforming

25362, As wrote previously, after first emergency shut down recycle gas H2 content and reformate yield started to decline, after evry next SD this trend accelerated, yes in may opinion this is problem from beginning of cycle. Nitrogen content in hydrotreated feed is very low about 0.1ppm, in...

    SR naphtha reforming

Yes, sulfur can deactivate reformer catalyst, this value 0.5ppm is design value for sulfur level. Sulfur is also easily detected by increased H2S concentration in recycle gas, this value is normal.

    SR naphtha reforming

Hi all, Is it possible describe clear symptoms for following reformer problems: - metal poisoning - overchlorinated catalyst - underchlorinated catalyst - catalyst end of life - problems caused by poor regeneration Our reformer has following deviations from normal operations: - low dT on...

Light naphta mixed with Medium gasoil?

Hi, Flash point can be problem, do you have specification for it? Take samples of light naphtha and gas oil mix it in desired proportion and take it to lab, if all spec. are ok you can use it. Milutin

    VDU ejector off gas

Thank you for your replay dcasto. Stream description is: Pressure:0.05bara Temperature:50degC Quantity:1000kg/hr Composition: H2S 30 mol% O2 0.1mol% N2 1.7mol% CO 4.4mol% CO2 0.4mol% H2 2.4mol% Rest is light hydrocarbons. Suppose it is necessary to increase stream pressure and send it amine...

    VDU ejector off gas

Off gas from the refinery vacuum distillation unit is routed to fired heater. Off gas is rich in H2S and results with increased SO2 emmision from VDU heater. What are the cost effective solution available to remove H2S from this stream? Regards,

    crude oil approval process

Hi dieselpet07 In my opinion it is necessary to consider impact of new crude oil on refinery economic and process plants. To see economic impact you can use LP software like PIMS, this can tell you how much refinery profit is increased or decreased when new crude oil is processed, crude oil...

calculation for smoke point for kerosene!

Hi checkon, You can find calculation procedure at API Technical Data Book, Chapter 2 - Characterization of hydrocarbons. I am not sure if commercial simulators has ability to calculate smoke point. Regards, Milutin

    Carbon Disulfide in Naphtha

Hi dieselpet07, Does CS2 in light naphtha cause any problems in process or equipment downstream of naphtha splitter or what is reason for your concern about CS2? To investigate source of CS2, crude oil or process, you can tray to distillate crude oil in simple and inexpensive ASTM D-86...

    Increased nitrogen content

Dear Mr. JJPellin, Thank you for shearing your experience with us. Nitrogen in reformer feed going to convert to ammonia, and react with chlorides to form ammonium chloride. Reforming is "dry" process and no liquid water exist to wash ammonia chloride deposited salts. Salts will usually...
