Problem: High cable sheath current for 34.5kV distribution system

Many thanks to all for the helpful information and advise. But the unbalance in the sheath current is really strange. The sheath current for two phases = 75A/phase, while for the third = 95A. Is there any explanation for that?

Problem: High cable sheath current for 34.5kV distribution system

Greeting, In 34.5kV distribution system, the cable distance between 34.5kV CB (upstream) and 34.5kV/13.8kV transformer is about 300meter. Unfortunately, each phase (single core cable) has high sheath current (AWA current = 100A for B, 80A for R&Y). Cable is single core 500mm and at terminals the...

Selection Between Single Breaker System & Double Breaker System

Greeting, We have a plane for a distribution substation 34.5kV. We got two proposals as follow: 1) To use single bus (no sections), and all CBs will be double due to high current demand that normally will exceed 4000A. the max widely used CB found in the market for this level is 3150A. This bus...

The Use of Cable to Link Two Bus's directly in a MV Distribution Subst

Greeting to All, We have an expansion, and there is a plan to supply a new 35kV bus directly through a cable from an existing 35kV bus. The distance is about 20m and the demand is about 30MVA. So, both bus's will be connected directly through a cable and two CB's (no transformer). It is a new...
