    Slag in Flatwork Conc.?

As an inspector in my city gov't, I noticed on a recent concrete flatwork pour that the supplier had added a product called, "Slag". While I understand their desire to use slag to replace hard-to-find Portland cement, and that flyash is no longer available here in the Pacific NW, the slag is...

    line type/weight/color

My first step would be to obtain a set of pen size standards from your state dept of transportation (DOT) or from an engineering dept at a city. They almost always have a list of standard symbols along with "pen" sizes listed. Rocky

    AUTOCAD TO WORD

Regarding Pipeline's comment, "You'd think that someone would come up with a better way, no?" First, some need a colored background, for instance, to add an AutoCAD logo to a colored CD label, and match the background. So that choice is a GOOD thing. Second, to zoom extents, select a, Ctrl-C...

    2005 Plot -Missing Something?

WinXP R2005 SP 0 Dang! A new plot dialog box to learn. So much for time efficiency! Seems that on our new R2005s, you start with a PageSetup style, then set up the centering xy offset, page size, etc, and plot. Next plot of same drawing, the settings are not there. For awhile, the...

    2005 Crosshair Color Ow!

I also had no problem with my recently-gone R2000i with crosshair and pickbox colors on a grey (Color 9) background. In the new R2005, my magenta (And later, Yellow) show up dirty grey -- barely distinguishable. The only std color that works is black. BUT . . . there's more! We use SOLID...

    2005 Crosshair Color Ow!

Thanks for the responses, guys! Ummm . . . I should have posted that all of our R2000i seats work just fine with the grey background and the yellow-green cursor. They look (on the editing screen) just like the preview. On the R2005 screen the yellow-green looks like a dark rust color. ! I...

    2005 Crosshair Color Ow!

Acad 2005. I set model background to color 9 (Lt Grey) and cursor color to color 60 (Bright Yellow-Green). It displays just fine on the little preview window in the Color/Font dbox in Options. But on the screen, the word "Model" on the model tab is Ylw-Grn all right, but the cursor is a dull...

    .bak Files

Maybe our method is more pita, but we clean our whole network drive by SEARCHing for *.bak, then selecting the resulting list, and deleting scores or hundreds with one Delete. There are a few steps to it, but you 100% delete ONLY bak files, and you also get the whole drive at once. Rocky

    DesignCenter preview won't

R2000i Win2k In DesignCenter, with our standard symbols files showing, some std symbols will not show their preview, but only the red ACAD icon. They will all preview in the larger preview pane an the bottom, though. If we rename one of these 'un-previewing' files, then it will preview...

How to convert a DWF to DWG

FH . . . You can change a .dwf to a .dwg, at least we can in R2000i. I don't know if you lose any settings or details, though. The software you need is by IntelCAD, and it's called Dwf In. www.intelcad.com or sales@intelcad.com We liked it for one project that we needed it for. Rocky

It's hard to keep up.. What's new in AutoCad 2005

My employer, a city government, has agreed with my suggestion to not be hustled anymore by AutoCAD. Therefore, we will be staying with R2000i. I figure that in slightly over 3 upgrades that I do not get, the money saved will buy a full release. (State contract pricing). We do 99% of our own...

    Need Continuous Demo

IFRs -- thanks for the idea. Read my original post, and you will see that I did not really have the time to script something out. AutoCAD used to have a continuously running demo, but I guess not any more. Cheers! Rocky

    Need Continuous Demo

CRG -- thanks for taking the time to reply. I agree, I don't believe in "prettying up" things for visitors; however, there is a guy here who signs my paycheck who has other ideas. Besides, our task distribution involves nearly everyone in surveying, construction inspection, drafting, and doing...

    Need Continuous Demo

I work for a city engineering dept which will be doing a short "showoff" for some people visiting from our sister city in Japan. My boss says to have something running on a couple of computers that will really impress them. Yeah, right! OK, so forget about impressing them . . . are there...

    Spiral

Ron -- Do you want to draw a Spiral? (Each circle is smaller than the previous one, like a piece of thread wrapped around a cone) Or do you want to draw a Helix? (Each circle is the same size as the previous one, like a piece of thread wrapped around a cylinder.) Hmmm . . . Rocky

    Scaling viewports in paperspace

To answer your question of what is the formula to convert 1:75 to a decimal . . . 1:75 = 1/75. To convert this, or any fraction to decimal, simply divide the bottom number into the top number. Or, in this case, 75 into 1.0 = 0.013. Cheers .. . Rocky

    Draworder is unruly

Ohhhh . . . now I get it. Draworder is one of those commands that works on snowy Tuesdays on years that have two or more Friday the 13ths, but only on leap years. Makes sense. Typical AutoCAD Thanks, guys . . . Rocky

    Draworder is unruly

Thanks, surveyor101. Before I try the ALISP program that you posted, I would like to know if you think that this program will circumvent the problem we are having manually performing Draworders? It sort of looked like it just automated what we are doing by hand, but what do I know>>> (g)...

    Draworder is unruly

Win2k ACAD2ki In normal everyday 2d drawings where Layouts are used, we find that if you access Mspace from within the Layout, and apply Draworder | Back to, say, some bhatch shading, then the next command you use puts the shading back on top. It seems as though you have to Draworder your...

    "Checking Entity" Ire

Rocky, again . . . ACAD2ki SR2 2d MENULOAD = ACAD and EXPRESS. Exsqueeze me, I erred: the dreaded "Entity Check" appears to be on all drawings, including some imports from other offices. Back to ya . . . Rocky
