ManufacturerÆs Data Report for Pressure Vessels

I don't have the ASME BPVC handy. Can someone let me know what the code says concerning the Manufacturer’s Data Report for Pressure Vessels? Thanks.

Applicability of Codes and Standards to Piping

how about in a chemical facility? wouldn't that be ASME B31.3?

Applicability of Codes and Standards to Piping

what about vents that *may* contain very small amounts of hazardous vapors (e.g., HF)? would you say that B31.3 applies? and who makes that call? is that up to the engineer/owner or the state for example?

Applicability of Codes and Standards to Piping

Nuclear Regulator Committee. I believe they have their own set of standards. If they approve of the installation, the onus is on them. I'm not sure because I have was not involved in the installation of our first plant. The one currently being designed is a DOE facility/project.

Applicability of Codes and Standards to Piping

we do have the standard now. it was quite odd to us that we did not have the standard. i think that the reason we didn't already have it is because we are under the jurisdiction of the NRC and they don't use ASME B31.3 as a required standard.

Applicability of Codes and Standards to Piping

How does one determine what code/standard applies to what? Our project has the requirement that all piping shall conform to ASME B31.3 because it is a chemical plant. Would this also apply to the vents which are PVC? I don't have the code so I don't know whether ASME B31.3 can apply to any and...

Sizing a Blower for Fume Collection

thanks for your help. it is just a 4-inch flex hose (there is no exhaust hood).

Sizing a Blower for Fume Collection

I'm trying to size a blower for a fume (UF6 vapor) collection application. What I need is a reasonable assumption/guess for entrance velocity (CFM) for such an application. We don't anticipate much vapors. The application is to capture any vapor escape when making connections. Any ideas? Thanks...

Sizing a Blower for Fume Collection

yeah, i was thinking about that, but didn't think it was necessarily an HVAC item. UF6 potential for UF6 escape when making connections. we don't anticipate a whole lot of vapors. no large room

Sizing a Blower for Fume Collection

Oh yeah...we don't anticipate there being much fumes. I don't even know a good estimate on what we expect. I just want a reasonable sized blower that can get rid of a very small amount of fumes. We have a 4-inch line into the HVAC.

    Pressure Relief for Pressure Vessels

Application Cylindrical vessel (reactor) that is vented (off-gas) and has UF6, N2, H2, and H20 each entering at pressures around 20-30 psig. The vessel has a design pressure of 29 psia. Accident Scenario The scenario is that the off-gas vent line plugs, pressurizing the vessel above its MAWP...

    Formulas for Pneumatic Conveyance

I had a question regarding the forumlas in Perry's for pnuematic conveyance. Does system capacity (kg/hr) refer to the solids, gas, or both? And what happens if the nomographs don't have the values for your system (e.g., the numbers are lower than the lowest point on the nomograph)?

    OSHA Surface Temp

But where does this 140 degrees F number come from? is it a regulation or just a common practice (that is not really regulated)?

    OSHA Surface Temp

It's surface temperature requirements for equipment to protect the workers. I wondered what code/standard governs those limits. Thanks!

Can anyone direct me to the appropriate OSHA section for surface temperature requirements? Thanks!
