how about in a chemical facility? wouldn't that be ASME B31.3?

what about vents that *may* contain very small amounts of hazardous vapors (e.g., HF)? would you say that B31.3 applies? and who makes that call? is that up to the engineer/owner or the state for example?

Nuclear Regulator Committee. I believe they have their own set of standards. If they approve of the installation, the onus is on them. I'm not sure because I have was not involved in the installation of our first plant. The one currently being designed is a DOE facility/project.

we do have the standard now. it was quite odd to us that we did not have the standard. i think that the reason we didn't already have it is because we are under the jurisdiction of the NRC and they don't use ASME B31.3 as a required standard.

I'm trying to size a blower for a fume (UF6 vapor) collection application. What I need is a reasonable assumption/guess for entrance velocity (CFM) for such an application. We don't anticipate much vapors. The application is to capture any vapor escape when making connections. Any ideas? Thanks...

Oh yeah...we don't anticipate there being much fumes. I don't even know a good estimate on what we expect. I just want a reasonable sized blower that can get rid of a very small amount of fumes. We have a 4-inch line into the HVAC.

I had a question regarding the forumlas in Perry's for pnuematic conveyance. Does system capacity (kg/hr) refer to the solids, gas, or both? And what happens if the nomographs don't have the values for your system (e.g., the numbers are lower than the lowest point on the nomograph)?
