I am looking at some FEA programs. Most are expensive and I need one that can do detailed reports. I have to use Mohr's principal stresses as a reference as required by client.
JL
I had all of those already ...Thanks.
If your are designing circular tanks..it's simple and you have many ways; a rectangular one, very few! Even less using Mohr's circle or the principal stress formulas.
Example S = 0.5 (Sy + Sx) ± [0.25(Sy – Sx)2 + Ss2]0.5
But in a boxed or closed...
I am designing a rectangular tank and need to have it comply using Mohr's Stresses formulas. I know of some FEA that could do something but according to ASME appendix 13.
Meygesy' PV handbook has a simplified method
Tanks has to comply to this equation....
S = 0.5 (Sy + Sx) ± [0.25(Sy – Sx)2 +...
I will have different sorted sources of HIPS, ABS,Degassed expanded foams, HDPE and PVC.
I want to develop second and third transformation for these to minimize carbon footprint.
I thought of recycled lumber materials or pavers/tiles.
Any suggestions with specific materials? and how difficult...
My tank needs to be rectangular. Approx 8'x8' x 30" high. Will be on a trailer and built to DOT and UN standards. Tank will have baffles to diffuse the energy created by sloshing but I was curious to see if simple formulas existed for a equivalent force applied when braking.
JL
I will be putting baffles but I am trying to model/determine the forces created when stopping the trailer the tank will sit on.
a) forces on the tank's walls
b) forces transmitted onto the trailer
JL
I am designing a rectangular that will be on a trailer and would like to know where to determine the forces due to liquid sloshing when stopping.
How do I determine these forces?

Iam just trying to get answers from these so called gazification process but never seem to be sucessful at getting any serious answers....I am realizing recycling is more a want than a will do for many recyclers. Maybe my solution lies in getting a cleaner output and plastic separation by type...
I do not want to burn unless I have to, as there will be need to look after emissions and would need stack treatment! What I see most claims for making fuel out of plastics is bogus as the energy requirements are never told! They also never seem to be willing to answer technical questions..I...
The challenges lies in finding buyers for plastics; until you are faced with it you are very surprised how little demand there is for some products. I have to find more alternatives to recycling and landfilling is not an option.
