    Crashing Assembly after part change

Unfortunately I don't have time for my VAR to see it before i need to have it completed. My Delete face tool crashes SW about 1/4 the time I use it, which is frequently. I always save before using it. I have 2009 SP1 because my company doesn't want to pay for the service contract. I wasn't...

    Crashing Assembly after part change

Hi all, I was changing some surfaces on a part in an existing assembly today and had crashed SW with the delete face tool (as usual). After I restarted SW and tried to open the assembly SW crashed again. The part I was working on opens fine and has no errors. Both files were saved shortly...

    Splicing a Solid Part

I figured it out! Join is an awesome assembly tool. If any one is trying to add a section to a part use Join. Works perfectly. Thanks!

    Splicing a Solid Part

Yes it is. The original file is so complex due to the surfacing that it would be a huge file. So to store them we save them as para-solids. I modified one of these files to get the solid part I have now. The surfaces I am losing are from the original imported file. Do you think that is causing it?

    Splicing a Solid Part

I am trying to add .70" to the center of a most axial part. I tried to cut of the back saved it, cut off the front saved it and put both parts into an assembly with a gap of .70". I saved it as a .sldpart intending to add an extrude and combine the body into the final extended part. However...

    Volume Measurement in an Assembly

That sounds slick. I'll try it.

    Volume Measurement in an Assembly

I have a somewhat complex assembly with nesting cylindrical parts. It is a pneumatic system with o-rings separating the active chambers. I want measure the volume of two assembly variations to compare them. I've seen some suggestions of making a solid in place of the volume but in this case...

    Parasolids and Exploded view

No, we're a smallish company so I'm a general SolidWorks guy. He may be running SW 2010. My only guess is that he thinks they will transfer better. He is in working out of Taiwan these days.

    Parasolids and Exploded view

That's what I thought. However we are in the same company. Thanks very much for the info.

    Parasolids and Exploded view

I'm trying to get an assembly with an exploded view in order to generate some renderings for our website. The files are being sent to me as parasolids. Do parasolid files save exploded views when exported? I don't know why he insists on using parasolids either. If any one has some insight on...

Thanks, I think thats why i didn't work in the first case.

Change Color of Curvature comb on a spline

As soon as I post it I find it. (Tools, Options, Sketch, Show Curvature Comb Bounding Curve) Tried this once and it didn't update. It did this time. oops

Change Color of Curvature comb on a spline

I am building a spline on top of a drawing one of the designers drew up. I am using the show curvature option to use the curvature comb to relax my spline. The background of the image is white and my comb is yellow. I really need to see it but I can't find the right option to change it. Anyone...

    .STEP file export issues

None of this worked for me. I had to rebuild my explodes. Thanks for the advice anyway.

    .STEP file export issues

I tired that on your advice. The Keyshot software doesn't seem to support these file types (according to co-worker). Good suggestion though.

    .STEP file export issues

I did. All but one part resolved eventually. One face that is mirrored (so two faces) never resolved and after deleting it (them) wouldn't fill the gap. So I deleted the bad file from the assemble and saved again with the same result. I've tried a few other versions of this solution to no avail...

    .STEP file export issues

I really can't, its proprietary. They would freak out if any of my management found out.

    .STEP file export issues

I am trying to export some assemblies for co-worker to render in KeyShot. It has worked for a number of assemblies I converted from .igs and .step files. I make the assemblies, modify exploded views and parts, then re-save it as a STEP AP203 or SP214, he doesn't know the difference nor do I...

Can the plane Orientation be changed on an existing part?

All useful suggestions though not exactly what I'm looking for. These tips should be good in a pinch though.
