I found an update to WDS on the web, it allows the indexing of mapped network drives, the only thing is, it's STILL not doing what it's supposed to do! The performance is sluggish at best. We have had solidworks for over a month, and we still cannot use solidworks explorer!

SW explorer '08 does not work with network drives or directories over the network in my own experience.
We have had NO luck in getting explorer to work, as for the VAR, well, once you pay the money...

The specs in my signature are my CURRENT/NEW hardware setup.
I do not have any part in the installation of new software within this company.
Our VAR came in last week and diagnosed our setup without solving the problem.
After I changed the permissions/attributes of my files some of them were...
Hi there!
We have installed SWX `08 on brand new hardware.
Converted all our old SWX 2005 files using SWX converion wizard.
Opened various assemblies discovering that they now had mate errors (when they were saved in SWX 2005 they were fine) Also some of the parts in said assemblies were...
Sorry,
Should have explained.
We have an "IT manager", much like many other "IT managers",
a bit hit and miss. I am CCNA qualified and know my networks, alas, I am not permitted admin priv. as I am only employed as a draughtsman with this company. The VAR had people in here on 3 occasions, no...
Hi folks,
We have three seats of 2008 and no PDM works.
We have to store our SW files somewhere but not on the main server computer. Currently they are stored on one of the SW PCs, this is not ideal as performance is very degraded. A USB external hard disk drive is not an option as this is...
I had looked at the help, as had my manager.
I could not search the knowledge base as there has been a recurring error with my login on SW side.

Hi,
We are upgrading to SW2008.
Therefore we are getting a hardware upgrade;
Core 2 6750
250GB SATA2
2GB 800Mhz RAM
Intel MOBO
ATI V3350 PCI-E
WINXP SP2
Still looking for a TFT Monitor, we have been using 21"CRTs,
need a 21" or 22" TFT (NOT WIDESCREEN) for under £200
Any suggestions on the...
Thanks for the setup info.
Just one thing, when we stored our SW files on a server, we were receiving the message `failed to save'.
We tried many things to resolve this to no avail.
We called in our VAR, they sent out network `experts', they could not provide a network solution. The last thing...
My PC is used as file storage for the other 2 SW seats.
If you never call your VAR for support can you justify the support cost?
Would you pay bill gates a yearly subscription fee after you bought one of his operating systems?
I was a lot happier with Solidworks when it wasn't trying to be...
The `box' you have had for 3 years now,
I'm guessing it's a high-end workstation, maybe dual xeons, with a high-end video card, and at least 2GB of RAM.
I have P4 3.0 Ghz
2GB 400MHz RAM
128MB ATI FireGL X1 AGP
My PC is used as a server to another 2 SW seats, would this run SW2007?
We have had solidworks since 1998.
We use solidworks classic or base edtion (no photoworks etc.)
We were paying £4000 approx EVERY year, the questions is, for what?
An upgrade that usually has more bugs than fixes,
Support which couldn't solve all of our problems.
Also, with each new version of...
Hi,
We currently have 4 seats of Solidworks 2005 S.P3.0.
We would like to upgrade to SW2006.
The prices quoted all stipulate a mandatory 1 year subscription and maintainence contract to go with the software upgrade.
As we do not require support, is there any way to just buy the upgrade itself?
