    Windows XP operating system SP3

Microsoft released SP3 to the Windows XP operating system on 5/6/2008 which rolls up all critical and security patches since XP released originally. Has anyone allowed Windows XP SP3 to install and if so what issues if any have you experienced, specifically with SW2008?

    force Drawing dimension font diplay

Is there a way to force both model dimensions automatically added and drawing dimensions added manually to a drawing to diplay the same. That is, either all dimensions display as black or all dimensions display as grey. I realize that the manually added dimensions are not parametric back to...

    Build your own workstation

Over the years I have always built my own desktop PC's and "workstations" usually using a tested ASUS motherboard bundle as the starting point. It has been 3 or more years since my last build and I was wondering if there is anyone that has done a recent workstation build. If so, I would be...

    Dimensions Flipped

Hello all,I stumbled across this dimension flipping phenomena with the Hinge in the SW online Tutorial. This is obviously a simple part. In the tutorial you change the long dimension of the hinge by increasing it but not decreasing lower than the original value. On decreasing this extrusion...

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 settings

Thanks TateJ, I had those settings for the mouse with one difference. In the Advanced settings I setting the middle(wheel) mouse button to "click" and it works ... sometimes. No rhyme or reason, but sometimes by left clicking near the model and then wheel click and hold will work. Sometimes...

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 settings

I have been unable to determine the SW specific mouse settings of my Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000. My problem is that I seem to be unable to get the MMB to allow me to rotate the model by simply clicking and holding nor to drag the model with CTL + MMB. The wheel will zoom in and out...

"What's New" links in SW2006 generate "access denied" error

Solution found!! Thanks for your help Scott. It turns out that the fix was simpy to re-associate PDF files with the Adobe Reader. For some reason the file association failed from within SW but worked outside of SW. Go figure. Michael

"What's New" links in SW2006 generate "access denied" error

Scott, I'm not completely following your last response. I have looked at the properties of both the "WhatsNew.pdf" file and the "whatsnew.chm" file. When I double click on the individual files they open as expected in Adobe Reader and in Microsoft HTML Help respectively, as they should...

"What's New" links in SW2006 generate "access denied" error

Hey Scott, I pointed my VAR to your comment about the Hotfix 896358 after verifying that it is in fact installed. My installation is a stand-alone installation. My VAR forwarded the info to SW and here was their response: "What Scott is referring to in the answer to the forum posting is a...

"What's New" links in SW2006 generate "access denied" error

I have clean installed SW2006 after thoroughly purging all previoius versions of SW from my desktop CAD station ( a total of four times now). The links to the "What's New" pdf file from the Help Menu and from the Resource Pane generate an "access denied" error dialogue. However, when I locate...

converting Pro/E to import into Solidworks

I have SW03 SP05, SW04 SP03 and SW05 Beta1 all installed on the same CAD station. I have no problems running either of the versions except that I sometimes have to recheck an "add-in" in one version to make it availalbe if I have turned it off in a different version and vice-versa. My install...

    Helical Array

I may have modeled something very similar to this recently. My model required a spiral staircase inside a cylinder. First attempt was to use a helix for a curve driven pattern of an extruded feature: did not work. Then tried converting the helix to a 3D sketch and use the 3D sketch to drive...
