PFC equipment not registering current use despite working

I was wrong with the meters. It's not metering each side, they are both fed from the same CT at the main LV input to the panel. So it was 400A in total.

PFC equipment not registering current use despite working

Been back at it this morning. Turns out to be a really simple solution- it's the wrong spec. The whole thing would work as it should if the spec was correct, and during auto initialisation the meter reads current spikes as the various steps are switched in. After this is goes back to no current...

PFC equipment not registering current use despite working

Thanks all, I forgot to mention that i have checked the CTs are physically there, they are not shorted, they are wired correctly, in the correct orientation and I have continuity to the meter. I have swapped the meter with one in the panel next to it and still nothing. The CTs are wired the...

PFC equipment not registering current use despite working

Hi all, We have a lot of PFC equipment on site, but one of them, despite working away does not show any current use on its supply meter. This is a 1MVA Schneider Electric PFC with capacitors and inductors internal. It is fed through a Masterpact MTZ2 breaker at 400V. Neither the separate power...

Can we start an ID fan motor 700 kW 690 Vac direct on line?

"The boiler is operating well now although with a VSD the kW consumed would be much less." Has anyone confirmed this? We found that up to 80% nominal speed a VSD saved anergy and after that it tailed off until it cost more to run it through a VSD. At 50Hz, we were using 1.2x the energy that...

    SEPAM connection

Giulio Prette (Electrical)9 May 24 15:34 Checked this? https://www.se.com/eg/en/faqs/FA337473/ I've been through all that, and been through the Schneider helpdesk. Still no connection.

    SEPAM connection

Does anyone have any tips for connecting to a SEPAM using a USB-serial convertor? We have a mix of the old PS2 mini-DIN plug and mini USB front panels. I can connect to the mini USB no problem, but trying to connec to the mini DIN ones? Can't get it to happen. I have done in the past, but I'm...

What is typical switchgear DC control power voltage in Germany?

we have a lot of German equipment on site: LV control- 24V DC HV control-110V DC with battery back up (10x 12V batteries)

A very simple PLC application & zero budget for hardware ??

We use Siemens LOGO controllers for relativel simple setups like that for the apprentices to play about with. You can get a LOGObox that will have a controller, PSU, small HMI and sofware as an all in one package. We get ours from RS in the UK, but they are also available everywhere else in the...

GEC VMX 13.8KV Operations and Maintenance Manual

"Some of the VMX breakers have the plastic shroud/body damaged or removed entirely. Are they safe to operate as the isolator pins are exposed at the bottom?" I wouldn't operate them like that, and looking at the flexible shields at the bottom of the insulator, they appear to be suffering from a...

GEC VMX 13.8KV Operations and Maintenance Manual

We've got one on site, i'll check in the panel and see if there's a manual inside it. EDIT- there is no manual, but if you need one for a BVP-17, i've got that. One thing to check when closing them is that the isolating mechanism (to the left and slightly back when looking face on) is on...

    Bucholz trip

The control cable for the transformer that unintentionally trips was running beside the HV cable of the transformer that we intentionally trip. I rerouted the control cable to avoid all HV sources. We did another test yesterday. When we tripped the CHP (intentional) transformer 7 also tripped...

    Bucholz trip

We're thinking along similar lines just now, the Bucholz relay is wired directly back to the SEPAM so we are also thinking induced voltage, the cable supplying the transformer that trips and the multicore with the signal I/O are running in the same trench. I had asked Schneider to put a delay...

    Bucholz trip

Schneider were on site yesterday for a couple of hours investigating it. No wiring issues, no SEPAM setting issues. The Bucholz input has been going high as it has been recorded in the SEPAM as such. No gas showing in the Bucholz viewing chamber, oil is clean. No one has any idea. They've...

    Bucholz trip

The wiring has been checked back to the inputs on the SEPAM and according to the drawings it is correct. The existing system has been in for 10 years without issue, it's just since the new plant was fitted that it has tripped. When Schneider come on site we will check the input is correctly...

    Bucholz trip

Hi all, first thread so be gentle with me please. We have had a new CHP plant installed on site and during the testing an issue has arisen. When the CHP plant trips its 11kV breaker (during functional testing) an unrelated breaker also trips out on Bucholz trip. The CHP plant was wound down and...
