I believe ADP stand for alternate design basis (which was Appendix D in my old 3rd edition...I think) which allows the use of higher strength materials (thinner) usually with more shell stiffening and higher design stresses are allowed.
Hope that helps

We have a number of cone tanks at our facility which I believe were built to an early 60's API650. They do not have any external stiffening rings.
They have not suffered from internal shell corrosion and the shells are effectively at nominal thickness. My interpretation of 60's API 650 is...
Just looking thru the NDT requirements for an EN 14015 tank. With reference to table 29; it states that all floor plate fillet welds should be subject to dye penetrant inspection in addition to either MT or Vac box.
What are peoples experiences with this? Have I interpreted this correctly...
An unusual problem perhaps??
The record keeping at our facility has been poor in the past and whilst we have some drawings very few indicate whether the constructions code is API650 or BS2654 or even what the constructions materials were. We know there are tank built to both codes on our site...
I've dealt with a few of these small condensate tanks now which have been completely chewed out from underside corrosion in annular ring area. They are typically holing about 4-6years as an estimate with 10mm (3/8") annulars
Can anyone describe the machanism by which this damage is occuring...
I am very aware of the maximum allowable sizes of shell to floor weld in various storage tanks, both with annular welds and those with sketch plate floors. I'm also aware of the differences between the relevant codes BS2654, 650 etc.
My question is about the implications of having a very...
Hello everyone,
I'm trying to rank various fluids typically piped around a refinery by their tendency to vaporize.
I can do it by gut/experience but I'd like to approach things in a more scientific way. What fluid characteristic would be the best to use? I thought vapour pressure but I'm...
Hi folks, first post.....so go easy [bigsmile]
I have a general question regarding the span between storage tank nozzles and the first piping support for feed and suction lines. I have seen examples where pipe supports are chocked solid within a few feet of the tank and also the other extreme...
