Thank you for the good insight. I think we will first try and strip down a out of service faulty unit and see how it goes. I will try post feedback here on the progress and findings. I will definitely contact the manufacturer.
Thanks
Good day,
In our network we have several Hermetically sealed voltage and current transformers ranging from 33 - 220kV.
There are several which have developed oil leaks.
Can these be repaired as they are Hermetically sealed units?
We would preferably repair them in-house / on site as we are a...
Thank you guys, Stevenal & Marmite that is the exact info I was looking for. Next time we will make sure to create an "equipotential zone" by making sure there is a "common" with our portable earths & treat the work as "live".
Thanks!!!
True, our utility has never done live line work and we are looking into it nowadays.
The 220KV line is roughtly about 20m or so metres away but running parallel to the 11kV line. We apply earths at the isolation point (about 400m away) and then also apply earths both side the point of work (10m...
Hi does anyone have any experience or tips on how to work on e.g. 11kV Distribution lines running close/parallel to eg. 220kV Transmission lines?
Whenever we have to work on distribution lines even with multiple earth connected our linesmen still feel induced voltages when wearing HV gloves, at...
Thanks I followed up and "googled" the elbow type pieces, but this would require opening the cable box each time to test, Im looking to apply this for field operators doing switching.
Something like a capacitive sensor that could be installed on the cable box (by drilling a hole for it) and a...
Good day!
We are operating a small distribution network and during operations we wish to be able to identify at switchgear live feeds/legs. We have old unintelligent switchgear with no capacitive test points on them.
I know there is no contact-less tester for armoured cables (how i wish), but...
Thanks Skogsgurra that is a very nice explanation. Plz give me a couple of weeks to get transient recorder and set it up on site. Well get back to this thread then. Thanks alot guys!
Yes a transient recorder sounds like the better option. The DC component sounds interesting, I will have to investigate fully the equipment connected in the network.
Marmite - Sorry for the confusion I must have caused. All the transformers have solidly earthed neutrals. I was somehow thinking...
Thanks for the feedback :) :)
There a several transformers on the feeder, a mixture of some 50kVAs, 100kVAs, and 200kVAs. There are all of DYn-11. There is no "intelligent" protection on the system. It is just a fused sub-station. Yes the HV fuses on the 11kV side of the transformers keep...
Greetings all, was normally browsing here as a guest but have now decided to join this great group :) :)
I have a problem in a distribution network I maintain. It is in an area with:
Main 33kV D-D step down to 11kV sub-station(fuse protected both sides HV & LV)
Then 11kV outgoing...
