Does that mean hot forming is better than cold forming??

CODE ASME SEC. VIII DIV I Air Storage Pressure Vessel

I had seen a few shortcoming because of a pressure vessel end user refuse to hire an experienced contractor for their pressure vessel jobs and end up doing it by themselves. Turns out they have to pay a lot more to fix their own mistake. Unless your organisation have an experienced personnel...

    Partial Joint Penetration

Does partial joint penetration is allowed for vessel build under ASME Section VIII Div 1.

    shell out of roundness repair

it is an autoclave with loaded cages moving in and out of the equipment+pressure & hot temperature that cause the shell plate to be oval. The owner of the vessel are quite thrifty and he prefer to explore the repair option than replacing it with new one. Cost wise if we manage to repair it...

    shell out of roundness repair

we have a client asking us to repair their pressure vessel that had been become oval in shape due to years of service. we had no idea how to do it since we never do it before. however one idea comes to mind which is removed all the shell plate weldment and rerolled the plate to flatten it back...

Re welding of welded joint of pipe

ASME doesnt specifically mention how many time we can weld at the same spot.

Holes in 1st layer of weldment

The porosity shall be grind of before subsequent weld passes, that is of course the textbook way of dealing with weld defect. However i doubt that properly design equipment will fail just because of very minor porosity left in the weldment. Even most codes will tolerate some porosity/slag to a...

Is S 275 JR suitable to be used as Construction Material for Pressure Vessel with steam as a medium?

In one country the usage of EN10025 S275JR for PV pressure part is already forbidden. I have seen a steam service pressure vessel build using JISG3101 SS400 that already in service for 30++ years and still working fine.

    Opening as per Appendix 1-7

So i can say that according to UW-14(a) i have no problem designing a vessel with extra large nozzle intersecting a category B(circumferential joint) and the code doesnt require fabricator to conduct any NDE. However for quality assurance some NDE should be conducted. Thank You

    Opening as per Appendix 1-7

We have a vessel with large nozzle opening design according to Mandatory Appendix 1-7 that intersect a category B weld joint. Is requirement UW-14(b) regarding radiography apply to my situation? if not is there a requirement anywhere in the code that require any kind of NDE for the category B...

    Support Lug

We need to design a vertical vessel with a cone section at the bottom. Problem is due to stress discontinuity at the cone to shell junction & reinforcement requirement, a stiffener ring had to be installed near the shell to cone junction. The stiffener ring now due to its position will obstruct...

Design using Asme Code in combination with other codes.

The vessel is design according to ASME VIII using a software where the things like thickness, nozzle analysis etc is calculated to ASME. It is a door where the door is keep secured using a flange and lockring. Just like the door that is used in most autoclave. Those are the area where asme...

Design using Asme Code in combination with other codes.

Currently im designing a quick actuating door where it is design to ASME VIII div 1 and the area where flange and lock ring is design according to JIS standard as this type of flange connection with lockring is not mentioned in ASME VIII. Is it allowed by ASME code?? And this is not code stamped...

Pipes to substitute tubes in heat exchanger

We managed to get a price quotation for seamless pipe that is cheaper than tubes. Edstainless have a good point. Pipe making process is less precise than tubes. And it is not leak tested.

Pipes to substitute tubes in heat exchanger

No it is not existing. We planning to build a new heat exchanger. Just our client want to cut cost as pipe is cheaper than tubes. I know that the code is silent about this, but by experience somebody could tell any drawbacks of using pipe instead of tubes.

Pipes to substitute tubes in heat exchanger

Can pipes such as SA312 304L be used to replace tubes in heat exchanger build to asme viii.
