Thank you for the detailed explanations.
I am now thinking of running step i without said contacts and then in i+1, importing the model into another run, and declaring the contacts with the imported sets.
I think this should work.
We use a Greek software ANSA which I consider way better than HyperMesh. It allows (like HM) to work with several solvers.
I only used the following preprocessors so far: ANSA, HyperMesh and ANSYS Classic. What I can tell you is that HM will open just about any geometry, but ANSA can delivery...
Unfortunately, I am not familiar enough with the Digitized Shape Editor workbench to be able to help you.
Maybe the other members can give more information...
Hello AFROUZ3,
This is what I have found in the CATIA Online Documentation:

It would help (a lot) if you could explain which are the starting elements and what is that you wish to accomplish... Just like in geometry, CATIA has many options to create a line.
Hello asaese,
Are you referring to a line normal (perpendicular) to a surface through a point?
My other question is whether you ask for the mathematics behind the generation of the line normal to a surface, or the methodology in CATIA to achieve that?

Hello holyghost,
There isn't a direct way to do this (like in SolidWorks, for example) but you can do the next best thing... create dimensions for both those lines (or more) and create an Equivalent Dimension .
More about this can be found here_1 and here_2.
Hope this helps,

Hello johnschwartz,
You can use the Cumulated Dimensions in the Dimensioning toolbar (Dimensions sub-toolbar) to create the desired result. More about this tool can be found here_1 and here_2.
It would probably be a good idea to modify some setting of the dimensions. Right-click it, and go to...

Hello sudhakar12345,
You can open a file of release i in a CATIA release of at least i. For example, you can open a file created in R19 with R19 or R20 but not in R18 or lower.
CATIA does have the ability to "downgrade" a file to a release down to R6. This is the application you might be...
jopal has explained it very well.
In your case sudhakar12345, there are two possibilities (which prevent a clean Close Surface):
Some surfaces are not close enough to be able to close a singular volume by CATIA and in that case use the Join feature with Distance Propagation (right click in...
