Can you stitch the edge to the solid in the FEM? Using the automatic method means the stitch stays associative in case you make further changes to the geometry.
This is an issue with NX7.5.X.
If you are using linear elements rather than parabolic then no 'stress-elemental' output is written just the element nodal result.
It wasn't like this in NX6 where both results were written and shouldn't be like it in NX8 (although I haven't checked).
The only...
Is this a large analysis you're trying to run? Only you don't have the biggest spec machine by the look of it and it might be running out of memory and therefore crashing out before it runs the job.
I also sometimes see that error which is fixed by reinitialising the licence file (or exiting NX...
In order to get results up in a different window, right click on the result you want to display and choose 'plot'. Then just click into the window you want that result to be displayed in. When changing the options on the result just make sure you have the right 'post view' highlighted in the...
I posted this in the UG/NX forum before finding the FEA forum so I thought I would link it here too...

Ok this is probably an easy one to answer for most but I just can't get this to work or even understand why its not working.
I'm just trying to analyse a simple link in between two ball joints.
The link is held by one spherical ball and the other end moved towards it (compressive) to create a...
This is a large displacement non-linear problem so you will need to use the appropriate solver, ADVNL 601,106 (and therefore licence) for this analysis. You need to use an enforced displacement constraint rather than a force to get the movement of the clips.
Since you have the meshes 'mesh mated' they therefore share a face as far as the mesh goes. Which means when you update one mesh the others will update as well. I'm pretty sure you can't delay these updates as they're on the global mesh controls which update as soon as you accept the changes in...
