KKEngineer,
If my memory working perfectly,as per LRFD end bearing pressure should limit within 3 Mpa and Skin Friction to 0.2 Mpa (ie.e for Drilled Shaft).
Though Tomlinson, limits end bearing to somewhere around 15 Mpa.
and Bowles Book, recommends about 4 Mpa on hard strata and about 1.6...
Dear EireChch,
Yes it's 10 m dia well/caisson for bridge foundation.
This one is reference for you
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caisson_(engineering)
Yes Buggar we are going to construct bridge.
Simply press some words with your opinion,
is 850 kPa of bearing capacity with FoS of 3, achievable for 10 m dia 20 m deep caisson rest on medium dense sand with SPT N 30?
Dear friends
I have laboratory reports, with plastic limits are quite higher than that of liquid limit, can anyone please make me clear "is that possible", if yes what is the physical meaning of that soil? Is that type of soil is suitable for highway sub-grade???
Dear friends, Is there any limiting value for ultimate skin friction and tip resistance, based on IS code limiting ultimate value for Tip resistance is 11Mpa and limiting ultimate skin friction should not be more than 70 Kpa…is that justifiable??
Dear Andrew sir,
Very thank you for your idea... I am sorry for short information...
Actually,
After all Cu is about 150 Kpa from laboratory test result… I am bit confuse with information provided by Structure Engineer… He provided Service load of 15000 KN and Ultimate load 16480 KN… Then I...
Dear friends
My structure engineer provided this much of load on each pile...probably due to 45 m long PSC girder beam bridge having pier height of about 30 m from ground...they proposed with 4 nos of pile in each pier....but I am not sure each pile can resist such a huge load or not, There is...
Dear friends,
Please give yours opinion regarding possibility of cast in-situ bored pile with working load of 15000 KN in soft claystone to mudstone having SPT N value less than 30 around 25-27 and undrained shear strength of about 150 KPa.
Give me very rough idea regarding length and size of...
Dear friends,
Please provide good reference, or formula to calculate horizontal and vertical Spring Constant from soil properties to calculate deflection and settlement characteristics of pile foundation...
Dear sir
I have a site with gravelly boulder with coarse sand upto 25 m from NGL. SPT and DCPT value is quite higher more than 50, Maximum size of boulder is arround 40 cm, i have to design footing with pressure of 50 t/m2, which codes, standards or books are useful to me for calculation of...
Is there any reasonable correlation between undrain shear strength and SPT N-value....some code recommends N/16 Kpa and some others N/8 Kpa which is true one????
For your reference,
It’s on river bank and outlet of lacustrine deposit, rock is found nearly 50m below, at a depth of 25m to 33m there is coarse clean sand, where SPT ranges from 20-30, SPT value is more than 50 at 3 m depth on clayey layer and SPT value is more than 80 at 15 m on clayey...
Dear friends,
U ever found such a hard clayey soil having SPT nearly 80, specific gravity nearly 2.3, organic content nearly 30%, natural moisture nearly 80%, Liquid limit nearly 90%, unconfined compressive value 500 kPa...????? my senior officer cannot accept our findings. They said they...
