Sure, that's effectively what isolate in Catia does; it deletes the link between the surface/plane and it's parent and then fixes it in space - by referencing the internal csys of the part. It sounds like, dg, you're saying that if this is a plane I could maybe take some measurements (angle and...
Hola
I have a plane that was created referencing upstream geometry. I would like to fix this plane in space and remove references to parent geometry. I believe for a surface I can Copy Geom from withing the same part. What is the best way to do this for a plane? In Catia this can be done using...
Hey!
Does anyone know how I can setup a Creo Map Key (hot key) to repeat the last command? For example, if I hit the Assemble button then I close the Assemble window, I would like to be able to hit 'a' or 'b' etc on the keyboard and for that to open the Assemble window again.
Thanks
Hi-
Can I set up Creo to make it edit a sketch by double clicking that sketch from the tree? Seems like every other CAD package let's you do this.
Thanks!
Ah, gracias, dgallup, that got me on the right path.
It turns out I have to click the first line, ctrl-click the second line, wait for a context menu to show up and then hit a little Angular Dimension button on that. Very strange you can't get to that button elsewhere in the app.
And as far as...
Hi guys
This is my first time using Creo Parametric (and I'm using 6.0 apparently).
Within a .sec file I have created the attached sketch. My first question is: where the heck is the origin? When you create a sketch within a part file it gives you one but I don't see it when creating a .sec...
Thanks sdm
Those are all good points. Yes, I am familiar with STATSUB and very familiar with SP-8007.
I'm totally on board for statsub with skins that take fuselage and pressure loads, and pressurized tanks that take beam loads but what about fairings.. If the only load (outside of...
Hey!
Easy question.
Say I have a cylinder that is being crushed by external pressure. The pressure is a pressure field. So maybe on one side has 0.7 MPa and another 0.9 MPa and so on. And this is implemented by Pload2's on all the elements.
If I run a Sol 105 linear buckling analysis, will it...
Hi Folks
In NX, after I assign a material using Tools > Utilities > Materials > Assign Material, is this material property displayed visually somewhere?
In Catia a little icon appears in the tree. This is useful so that when you first open a part you immediately know what it is made from.
Thanks
hey pylfrm
it's just something about AX B that makes me automatically look for the other places in the vicinity whereas the detail can be on a separate sheet 35 pages back.
but alright, you're right, time to play ball. i'll do it that way.
thanks!
Hey Folks
I know people have asked about using TYP on drawings ad infinitum on this forum.
But I'm wondering how you handle repetitive details in 2D drawings, not repetitive features.
So if I'm calling out the hole size in a hole pattern in one view; I use 4X DIA .25 etc, sure.
How about a...
Here it is:
This is option is for drop-offs. The Geo-Lvl is the 'relative length' of the ply in the drop-off.
So forget about the stacking sequence. Just imagine a pyramid of plies in a transition zone. The longest ply would have the lowest Geo-Lvl (say 1) and the shortest would have the...
so modifying the values either has no effect (it produces the same ply sequence as shown in the explosion) or i get an error stating that the stack up file has been modified (duh) and after clicking ok, it gives the same plies as before
sigh.
but thanks Jenia
Hey Folks
Can someone explain the Geo-Lvl concept from stack-up files from zones in Catia Composites Design?
I have two screenshots. The spreadsheet shows the stack-up from zones output and the explosion is the output after plies-from-zones. This is easy enough to manipulate by swapping excel...
Wow. Kudos to pmarc and AndrewTT taking the time to write something up and upload it. Awesome.
AndreTT, that doesn't quite fit my intent because it doesn't differentiate the rotational DOFs. For the others..
So this was due Friday and I ended up going with something exactly like the suggestion...
Hey Folks
I have tab with two cut-outs. One is a circle and and the other is hex shaped.
The design intent is:
to have the tab sit flush on the bottom surface (lower image is a top view)
to have the hex cutout be aligned to the circle mid plane with a high tolerance ie up-down-left-right in...
