    shear/torque strain gauges

Yes. Just very expensive $220 for 1 vs $12 for 2. The Omegas aren’t as high but still not attractive in comparison https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/micro-measurements-division-of-vishay-precision-group/MMF003114/2503706 https://www.phidgets.com/?tier=3&catid=9&pcid=7&prodid=234

    shear/torque strain gauges

Would you be able to offer links? I certainly can make a rosette work however this goes back to the price. I can’t find anything less than 10x the price as I was paying when I needed one of these...

    shear/torque strain gauges

Fair enough… These are pre-oriented to 90 degrees as well as not as many leads and/or soldering to deal with vs single gauges. I would prefer to have the product in a simpler package particularly when dealing with small diameter ( < 3/8") parts. Further, 4 single gauges have been...

    shear/torque strain gauges

Does anyone have a good source for shear/torque strain gauges? I have been using these (below) forever but they are now end of life/discontinued. I can’t find any other in this price range. < $15 pc. https://www.phidgets.com/?tier=3&catid=9&pcid=7&prodid=233...

    H-Bridge driver

Hi, I am in search of an H-Bridge motor driver for a brushed DC motor. I have been using the l6206 but it is too expensive to keep using. Can anyone offer an alternative with similar ratings? 5.6 A Peak, 24 VDC. My inquiry is coming up short. https://www.st.com/en/motor-drivers/l6206.html...

    Aluminum Casting Porosity Sealing

Thank you both. I do not understand the reason behind Step 2 of the porosity sealing for Loctite; could someone clarify? Allow to cool to 85C (then?) apply the product? Or apply the Loctite while the part is at 121C? I wouldn’t understand the reason behind the former interpretation here; for...

    Aluminum Casting Porosity Sealing

Thank you. Very good information! Let’s assume production environment; do you have any hot-melt suggestions?

    Aluminum Casting Porosity Sealing

I have some small (4”x4”x2”) porous aluminum castings that I would like to seal for a low pressure application <10 PSI. I do not have a way to vacuum impregnate these in house, nor do I want to send these parts out at the moment. I have found some 2 part, brush on sealants...

    Strain gauge drift?

EdStainless The shaft is just below an oven/heating elements. Free convection. I do not wish to wager against you, I do not want to lose. I think you are right. zeusfaber I like the thought process but the temperature of the meter wouldn't stray far from room temperature. Further I find it...

    Strain gauge drift?

IRstuff 5VDC with the meter linked in previous post. Every 10 seconds or so it takes about 25 measurements and logs the average which is shown in the graph. Actual value should be at 20. One load direction rises where one falls uniformly, indicating a shift of the 0 load calibration point.

    Strain gauge drift?

Also, thank you to everyone. I do appreciate the help.

    Strain gauge drift?

3DDave I wonder if you are on to something here, there is some mass to the setup. To clarify your premise: We have a Steady-state temperature at Time = 0 and Time = infinity, where Temperature of the shaft = Temperature of the strain gauge. This would mean no shift in calibration since the...

    Strain gauge drift?

Ron: I am not convinced a quarter bridge would be suitable for an elevated temperate torque application. 1 kΩ per quarter-bridge, the gauge is linked above. I am not sure if it would classify as elastic rebound as the zero point seems to drift back. EdStainless: How long has the system been...

    Strain gauge drift?

Hi, I am having some difficultly with a strain gauge measurement and I am looking for some insight. In a torque application, I see a drift with my strain gauges (2 half bridges on opposing sides of the shaft). I am calibrating them using 2 known points to create a calibration line. It appears...

    Celcon M270

    Sorry, here is the attachment:https://files.engineering.com/getfile.aspx?folder=200e4a48-638e-467f-8bd8-3d9f73547084&file=Celcon_M270_.jpg

    Celcon M270

Hi all, What could do this to Celcon M270 in a matter of a year, see attached? Picture shows a 1 year old deteriorated part, next to a new one. The part was untouched/Static condition. I have no idea what it was exposed to at this time. This is what I have been referencing...

    Throated worm shaft

Thank you very much, exactly what I was looking for.

    Throated worm shaft

Hi everyone, I am trying to spec out a throated worm shaft on a drawing. Does anyone have a good link to information about the required specifications when spec’ing out a throated worm shaft (no specific drawing standard) or an example of an already called out throated worm shaft on a drawing...

Current overload protection circuit - small brush motor

Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of analytically analyzing this circuit? I have the circuit working just as I want it to with R2 = 12K ohms. With my background being mechanical, I’m not sure what approach to take when proving this circuit. Any help would be appreciated...

Current overload protection circuit - small brush motor

Thank you very much for the help. On the ECB2 the Simple Electronic Circuit Breaker: How do I calculate the required current flowing through the Source and the Drain of Q1 that would cause enough of a voltage potential across R2 to turn Q2 on and trip Q1?
