NX11.0.1 MP2: CAM: cylindrical avoidance when 4-axis drilling

Our automation doesn't allow clicking this option. Manually, it would work for this part because there are always holes on the complete circumference. So the optimal path would never go through the middle to reach another hole. Still it doesn't prevent the spindle from going through the middle...

NX11.0.1 MP2: CAM: cylindrical avoidance when 4-axis drilling

No, it's one of those (older?) drilling dialog boxes which doesn't show any "Non Cutting Moves" option. Not even when customizing the dialog. The avoidance dialog shows this: As you can see, it mentions clearance and lower limit planes. But no cilinder option. Is there prehaps another...

NX11.0.1 MP2: CAM: cylindrical avoidance when 4-axis drilling

Hello, I have a ring which has points drilled all around the outside. They are drilled with the drilling operation (no cycle) which uses some other geometry for selecting the holes. This part uses expressions to resize the ring. We need to be able to produce CAM for various sizes. Therefore we...

NX10.0 CAD: advanced blend settings: capping blend size at small surfaces

Hello, I have a ring with various grooves cut on the outside. To simulate buffing of the outside, I want to put blends on the outside edges to dull the corners. The objects is driven by expressions which can increase the width and diameter (and number of grooves) of the ring. In the edge blend...

NX10.0 CAM: 4-axis roughing with variable streamline gives unexpected/unwanted result

Hello, I'm trying to mill a groove wrapped around a 4th axis. This groove has a variable width and isn't straight. I first want to use a flat endmill with diameter 1mm to try and cut as much as possible (the minimum width is less than 1mm). For this I want(ed) to use "Variable Streamline" with...

NX8.5: using nth and mod functions in law curve

Thank you both for your response. It is indeed a toroidal surface instead of a cilindrical one. I have tried the Curve on Surface option as Xwheelguy suggested, but it doesn't give the desired result (although it could come in handy in other drawings). I have managed to create what I wanted by...

NX8.5: using nth and mod functions in law curve

Hello, I'm trying to wrap a series of lines onto a cilindrical surface that's bent in 2 direction (it's a wedding ring, see picture in attachment). For this I'm trying to use a single law curve. As input I have a list of coordinates that should form the end points of these series of lines. I...

    CAM: Re-enable warning message

Thank you both for your response. I've tried the interface preferences option (registery editor seemed a bit more complicated) and it worked. Thanks!

    CAM: Re-enable warning message

Hi, I recently had a warning message "Motion to Start of Engage" in CAM. I accidently checked "Don't display this message again" before clicking on OK and now (as expected) the message doesn't show anymore. I want to re-enable that message but I can't find it. I presume it's located somewhere...

CAM: Fixed Contour Area with Spiral drive method gives unwanted retracts

Thank you very much. I hadn't tried streamline yet. I didn't realize it had the option for a spiral drive method. Now I've tried it and it seem to work as I had originally planned. Many thanks for your response :-).

CAM: Fixed Contour Area with Spiral drive method gives unwanted retracts

Hi, I'm having trouble getting a suitable milling path for milling a curved circular surface. I have this ring with has a wave-like side with a curved surface which needs milling using a ball cutter. I was planning on doing this with a Fixed Contour Area operation with a Spiral drive method...

4/5-axis surface milling with a flat endmill

I've managed to get it (more or less) how I want it by creating sheet geometry in the contour of the cross with a bottom surface. I then use Variable Contour operation with a Contour Profile drive geometry while selecting the walls and bottom surface. So far it seems to work fine enough.

4/5-axis surface milling with a flat endmill

Good day, I'm requiring a little help with 4/5-axis milling of a surface with a flat endmill. We fabricate wedding rings and would like to use a new machine and CAM to do some mill work required for setting stones (in this case a setting called a pavésetting). I've got the turning down to how I...
