I did not run your model, But i think it's related to your contact definition.
Maybe when your model experience Crack/Element deletion, Between your components (Rigid and Deformable) some sort of gap and discrepancy happened.
Check is there any gap or deviation happened...
Also in optimization process the amount of Reduction that I done is in accordance with the paper framework, But Results they show is significantly different what it should be ?!

My whole model is one part (not separated parts), Therefore there is no 2 nodes between 2 wires, it's just a common Node (Red node) between them.
Same before, There is no 2 Nodes, It's one common Node, If there is 2 Node then can you explain more?

Indeed you are right, I tried the Curve Smooth and extra/redundant vertices removed. but other problem raised.
Now Multi Section Surface did not work. maybe the Sketch get too simplified and i think there is not enough vertices in Sketch to get connected...
