Hi everyone,
I'am currently working on a pipeline lowering project using 4 engins (pipeline length is 1.25 Km). I assumed I can use CAESAR II to determine the adequate positions of engins which garante that neither maximum allowable stresse limits not maximum lifting capacities are exceeded...
DSB123, I've made a mistake I meant ' a piping engineer' ( I am not a native English speaker, and I know that the difference between 'piping engineer' and 'plumping Engineer' does not require high language skills) thank you for correcting me and sorry for the mistake.
I might also made mistake...
Hi everyone
I'm not sure if we I ask this question here , but I think it's the best way to evaluate my evolution and determine my weaknesses
What are the responsibilities and skills required for a plumbing engineer with 2 to 3 years of experience?
Any information or suggestions you can provide...
Hi everyone,
I'am a little confused, after a discussion with mu superior at work ,I 'am working on an FRP piping system , the vendor gave us these values:
- Young's modulus - axial : 13000 MPa
- Young's modulus - radial : 20000 MPa
- Poisson's ratio (principal): 0.4
- Poisson's ratio...
Hi everyone,
Does Vh/a (secondary poisson's ratio) have to be less than Va/h (principal poisson's ration) always ? ( this is what my superior told me and didn't explain me why) , so I want to know if it's true and if yes can you please explain it to me
Any help would be highly appreciated
Hi,
Which criteria to check when analysing an expansion joint using caesar II, displacement, Stresses and what else ?
Ad regarding displacement do i have to make sure that displacement in occasional load cases are within allowable values or i only need to cheek them in oparting and expansion...
Hi
Can you help with this,
I used appendix Y of ASME VIII to calculate total required cross-sectional area of bolts of a bolted flanged connections. But I don’t how can I calcule the number of bolts or determine their size.
Thank you in advance
Hi,
Can any give me the formula used to determine the equivalent pressure , according to ASME, for Class 1 Flange Assembly , Category 3 flane With Spacer (metallic spacer).n other words can i replace pressure ,in equations of appendix Y and appendix 2 of ASME VIII div 1, by equivalent pressure...
Hi,
In order to define Flange thkness and bolting using Appendix Y ( ASME VIII Div 1), i have ito determine Wm1 first ( Wm1 : minimum required bolt load for the operating conditions).
The problem is that I 'm not sure of the approach that I made, this is what I did
Wm1= H+HC+HG (Y-4 (a.4))...
Hi,
I can not understand this sentence of the appendix Y-1 (a) (ASME VIII)
"before the bolts are tightened or after a small amount of preload is applied to compress a gasket"
Hi ,
I have two questions:
First question: are Full-face gasket and flat-face gasket synonyms ???
Second question: Can i use Appnedix 2 ( ASME VIII , div 1) for bolted flange connections with full-face gasket ?? if i can't then which paragraph or appendix should i use.??
Thank you in advance
Another question , how can I calculate the thickness of the chimney from the chimney vacuum pressure ???
And there is a table of standard values of thickness as a function of the pressure
thank you all, i just want to say that am not complaining about my superior, at contrary it's a chance for me to learn something new , new and great experience
Once again thank you all for reading my post and answering me
#SectionIX ,
this is what i have been doing for three days ( reading all the chapters of that code and trying to understand them) , but my superior keeps rushing me, for me i think it is not that easy to understand a code such as B31.1 in a very short time, and that makes me feel confused
Hi
I was asked to determine the allowable stress (theoretically without using software) according to the code ASME B31.1 ;
And as this is the first time I utlisie this code , I wonder is there a specified paragraph or a chapter to determine the allowable stress or I should read the whole code.
