    Quick Drying Zinc-Rich Primer?

Hello, an excellent quick drying product is Gulf Coast Paint- MCU100. https://gulfcoastpaint.com/mcu-100-primerfinish-moisture-cured-urethane-aluminum-coating We use this on structural steel in our facility. Can apply 2 coats with 3 hours. Very fast drying and designed for industrial area. Andy

    Adhesion test and topcoating

Anything that exceeds 500 PSI on the ASTM D4541 test is what you want. That's a standard for most of the High Performance Epoxies on the market: SW Macropoxy 636, Devoe 235, Gulf Coast Paint's CM-15, Rustoleum 9100.

    Naoh storage tank lining

Here's an option we used in the past for tank internal tank lining: https://gulfcoastpaint.com/pc-517-poly-chemcure-high-build-glass-filled-epoxy-mastic/ I would contact the manufacturer and ask if the product can handle NaOH 40%. Thanks, Andy Jr.

Where do you go for Paints/Coatings?

Hi All, Just curious as to where lots of you go to get your paints & coatings? Online? ARCAT, Construction Connect? Or do you have corporate specifications? What are some other options you use? Thanks, Andy

    Chalking of steelwork

Hi Simone, Steve is correct. I would recommend an acrylic aliphatic polyisocyante. Acrylics have excellent UV & Gloss retention. 2 urethanes our facility uses is Rustoleum 9800 & Gulf Coast Paint CT-398. Both products have over 3500 hours in the QUV which shows the weathering effect on...

    Rigid, hard coating?

I would use an Epoxy Mastic Coating. CM-15 Epoxy Mastic from Gulf Coast Paint is a good product we've used in our facility. Self priming, great for immersion.

Epoxy vs Acrylic Sealant for Concrete

Acrylic's don't have very chemical resistance. You are also correct about epoxy durability. There's a company in Portland, OR called Technical Coatings Int'l that has a very good epoxy line and sealant caulking that might be good for this application.

    Repairing Weathered Phenolic Epoxy

http://www.epoxyproducts.com/aluthane.html Here's a potential as a fix that will hold you over. I've used this over tight rust before on steel beams and it worked great. Andy

    Polyurethane vs FRP

I've done work with Internal Tank Linings, floating roofs, etc and here's what I used when I worked at Chevron in Pascagoula, MS. http://gulfcoastpaint.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/PC-517-Super-Mastic-Brochure.pdf Gulf Coast Paint PC-517 Cycloaliphatic Epoxy

    Polyurethane vs FRP

I would not use a polyurethane in this situation. I would recommend a Cyclo-Aliphatic Epoxy. They're designed for immersion in these situations. Polyurethanes are generally used for UV protection, gloss retention, etc.

    Sealing rust "forever" is possible?

We use a Moisture Cured Urethane in our facility over rusty surfaces. It's the best I've seen at sealing it, but it doesn't last forever. All we do is knock off mill scale and apply coating to tight rust. We use Gulf Coast Paint MCU-100 Aluminum...

Coating System for Fish Hatchery Sludge Tanks

I think something like a Cyclo-Aliphatic Epoxy would work good. I've used one in the past for chemical resistance and for immersion. Here's the on I used. Gulf Coast Paint's PC-517 http://gulfcoastpaint.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/PC-517-Super-Mastic-Brochure.pdf

Paint selection for carbon steel surface which is not blasted

Tmoose, not sure I believe that..

Paint selection for carbon steel surface which is not blasted

I've used a product called MCU-100 Aluminum from Gulf Coast Paint Mfg., Inc. It's made for steel where you have minimal prep done. I've done it on tanks as well. High heat resistance up to 400 degrees F. Best product out there for minimal prep on steel.

High Build Epoxy or Phenolic Epoxy

I think a phenolic epoxy is over kill. An epoxy mastic would work good in submerged fire water.
