    ASTM B-62 Bronze pipes

Hello everyone. I have this issue with a specification. I have this "ASTM B-62, UNS C-86300 smls pipe", and I was looking for a weight/schedule table and it seems pretty difficult to find. I also have some confusion about the spec itself, it is only for component castings of valves, flanges, and...

Torque of austenitic 304 bolts in aluminum beams of geodesic dome

First and all, thanks so much for the response,SnTman, the owner's manual doesn't mention torque the bolts, its more a constructors form to have a quantitative way to know how much we can tight the bolts, the dome fabricator manual is silent in this matter; MintJulep, those values are in N.m or...

Torque of austenitic 304 bolts in aluminum beams of geodesic dome

Greetings, I hope somebody can help me with this one, I am in a project involving the erection of a geodesic aluminum roof, is necesary to aply torque to the stainless steel fastners of the estructure of the dome, this is the node and the beam, both of aluminum, AA 5454 H34 and AA 6061 T6, the...

Emergency and Standby Power Systems procedure certification

Hello everybody, I'm needing some help or orientation to make a standard procedure for certification of a power generation system, (emergency or stand by), of diesel internal combustion motor. If you can recommend any guide or industrial standard for making procedures for this matter, please...

    Currently building a 40.000 m3 crude tank

I agree with JStephen and IFR about the code statement about, but as a constructor QA/QC, at least in our company, we do NDT in this type of installation, never the less, this is our company standard, not a code requirement, if it's an exigence of the client I think that they should bargain with...

    tanks accesories

Thanks again both of you for responses, I certainly agree with JStephen that drains don´t need to be rx tested, but I´m thinking of the inner injectors, those, and Im just guessing, may be designed upon private industries specifications like SHELL, or BP, for example.

    tanks accesories

First, thanks for the reply, and yes I´m aware of the limits of the tank construction and the standard scope, but the thing that makes me doubt is for example, the inner drain pipe, it is neccessary to do Rx in all weld joints, I know that is a requirement in the flush type connections, but it's...

    tanks accesories

Greetings, I have a doubt about the governing codes or standards in fabrication of tanks accessories as manholes, flush type nozzles and fittings, internal piping (draining and instrumentation), since API 650 doesn't mention any fabrication code requirements for the weld of a flush-type nozzle...

    Nozzle insert design

IMHO, I think that its a good practice avoid square inserts, unless the corrners were round it. I´m not the more experience here but I think that here is a good point to justify my prevoius comment. "UG-36 OPENINGS IN PRESSURE VESSELS (a) Shape of Opening23 (1) Openings in cylindrical or...

thank very much for the link, but, in case welding in tanks or vessels, there is a limitation??

Max Heat input in SAW welding.

Hello team, is there a limitation in heat input for individual weld passes or is just a recommended practice do not weld above 3 KJ/mm,in SAW process for steel and mild steel?

    Waviness and Flatness in Shell

Thanks a lot both of you for your answer, I got this issue since we start construction, and always insisted for use a plumb line instead we use topography for measuring.

    Waviness and Flatness in Shell

Hello I have a doubt about how to measure and analyze the flatness and waviness tolerance in the shell, API 650 12th states this in the paragraph 7.5.2 a), pointing that we should use ASTM A6, A20 or A480 for checking the tolerance for out plumbness in one shell course. My main doubt it's how...

    API650 Tank Tolerances

I don't see any problem to measure the roundness in each course, as matter of fact its convenient matter for construction, the tolerance for plumbness in a individual plate course is in ASTM 6m, and check the peaking and banding before you raise each course.
