We actually have decided on the Cincy with a Fanuc resonator because of simplicity of design. The machine itself is so simple; the simpler the design, the less stuff there is to break! Also, they use a Fanuc resonator which has been around long enough that GE has worked all the bugs out.

On something like that you will just have to get a couple bottles and play a little bit. When I was messing around with glass, I pulsed with a co2 laser. You can cut regular glass fine with it, but don't try to cut safety glass, as it will shatter without heating it up first.

Thanks, BAM14! Actually, we have been using Mike Garner for quite some time to supply us parts. He is a great source for parts for a resonator rebuild. If you come up with some odd parts though, sometimes they are difficult to get.
We are actually now in a dilemma between purchasing a...
I am thinking about purchasing a Cincinnati CL-6 2500 watt laser with a dual-pallet 10' X 5' bed. I was wondering if anyone had experience with Cincinnati lasers and could tell me any praises or problems with them.
We currently have a Mazak STX-510 and are not happy with Mazak policies...
Has anyone tried cutting copper with a co2 laser? I have a 1500 Mazak STX510 and a customer that wants gaskets out of .004" copper. I know that I will have a major problem with reflectivity...but is there anything wlse that I need to worry about? Also, if anyone happens to have cut...
We are presently using a mazak stx510 with a 1500 watt resonator. We are planning on purchasing a new laser with a 5'x10' bed and at least a 3000 watt resonator. We primarily cut only flat sheet metal, so we only need a 2 axis laser. I would like to have your feedback on machines that you have...
John,
thanks for the input...the only problem is that we have to hold the tolerances within .003" for numbers between 100-500 pcs. per lot.
thanks anyway!!!

HAS ANYONE RETROFITTED A NON-CONTACT HEAD ON THEIR LASER? IF SO I WOULD LIKE ANY ADVICE OR COMMENTS THAT YOU COULD GIVE ME TO HELP MY DECISION. WE HAVE A MAZAK STX-510 WITH A 1500W RESONATOR AND ARE LOOKING TO PUT THE NON-CONTACT HEAD(PRECITEC CONTROLLED) WITH THE CARTRIDGE STYLE LENS HOLDER...
HAS ANYONE CUT 1/2 OR 3/4" CORIAN? IF SO, I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IF YOU COULD SHARE CUT CONDITIONS. I CUT 1/2" FREQUENTLY, BUT CAN ONLY ACHIEVE 10 IPM; ANY FASTER AND THE EDGE TAPERS IN TOO MUCH AT THE BOTTOM OF IT. ANY ADVICE GIVEN IS GREATLY APPRECIATED.
I HAVE A MAZAK STX...
as far as regular steel, watch your shower...if it is trailing, then you need more heat or you need to slow down. if the shower is ahead of the nozzle, then you need to speed up or cut your heat down.
when i say heat i am talking about the wattage or the percentage of wattage, so increase or...
What do you mean by "creative"? For cut conditions specifically, please let us know what wattage your laser is.
thanks

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON BYSTRONIC LASERS? I AM LOOKING FOR GOOD OR BAD POINTS OR ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO SHARE. I PRESENTLY AM USING A MAZAK AND TRYING TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE BYSTRONIC BECAUSE I HEARD IT CAN CUT AT AMAZING SPEED...
IS THE MAINTENANCE HIGHER THAN...
MOST GENERALLY WHEN I AM CUTTING STAINLESS WITH A PVC COATING, I WILL CUT THRU THE ENTIRE PVC FIRST (WITH AN ETCH PROGRAM) BEFORE CUTTING THROUGH THE STAINLESS. I HAVE NOT YET USED THE LASER GRADE PVC ON STAINLESS, WHICH SOUNDS LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DESCRIBING, BUT I BELEIVE YOU SHOULD PROBABLY CUT...
I just wanted to thank you Sarin. I am somewhat new at this and have not explored that far. It worked out great and the letters look nice.
Again, thanks a lot.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY LETTERS SAVED IN .DWG OR .DXF FILES FOR ETCHING THAT THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO SHARE? I DONT HAVE ANY AT THIS POINT AND I STARTED TO CREATE SOME, BUT I GUESS IT WAS A LITTEL MORE TIME CONSUMING THAN I THOUGHT.
I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT.
THANK YOU,
Gary L. Ellis Jr...
Usually I will etch the part w/low power to burn thru the paint then i will cut it at a slightly slower speed than normal.

YES, THNAKS. LOWERING THE FOCAL POINT HELPED TO IMPROVE THE CUT, BUT WE STILL ARE GETTING A JAGGED EDGE. ITS NOT ALL AT ONCE...JUST HERE AND THERE- AND VERY DIFFICULT TO CLEAN OFF. IF ANYONE HAS ANY CUT CONDITIONS FOR MAZAK 1500W THAT THEY WANT TO DONATE, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.
ALSO IF ANYONE...
Also, if anyone has a similar laser and can email us 14ga and 11ga ss cutting conditions with N2 assist gas we would greatly appreciate it. That will give us some sort of a base to compare our conditions to. Gary L. Ellis Jr.
