Cutting angles on a Cold Saw

IIRC, threre is at least one brand that will do what you want. I searched for at least a year to find one on the used market but that was maybe eight years ago. I believe it would do it in one direction only so check the specs pages closely. Griffy

Where can I get copper pipe 6" dia

CEV, How many pieces and to what specs? "DWV" tells me this is not precision work and if the quantity is low, sheet rolled and welded into a tube might work. Griffy

    What's it called?

Try a search for "knurled washers". Carr Lane has a decent illustration of the principle. Griffy

    Lofting a tubular transition

Thanks so much for the help. I see where I was messing up. Griffy

    Lofting a tubular transition

I am attempting to create a drawing(ipt) for a tubular grab handle and have attached a file to show the form as far as I've taken it. I having trouble lofting the transition from full round to the flattened section and no one in my work group (maybe that's why it ended up on my task list)seems...

    Broaching a hex hole

One other method depending on materials and permissible features might be to swage the form. Griffy

Debarking machine for small diameter posts

Treefarmer, Try a google search for "post peeler". I saw several commercially built unit and at least one set of plans. Griffy

    45 degree

While a 45 may be appropriate, I think that a look at the rake angle data for various materials for cutting tools might improve your chances of being close on the first try. See Machinery's Handbook. Griffy

    rivet

Stinsondawg, Check out the section on rivets in Machinery's Handbook. Several formulas and tables dealing with the information you are seeking. Griffy

    Looking for expanded metal IPT

If you check out standard EM note the effective thickness compared to the metal thickness (stock gauge). Flattened 3/4 x 10 EM may be .070" thick while standard 3/4 x 10 is listed at .282" thick. The apparent opening size changes depending on view which in turn affects size and presentation...

    Looking for expanded metal IPT

We've used that method for years but this project needs a detailed model for fits and clearances. Continual space and weight reduction efforts are affecting all kinds of materials today. Griffy

    Looking for expanded metal IPT

Hoping to locate an Inventor IPT file for steel expanded metal in the regular form as opposed to flattened. More specifically 3/4" x #10 if available but any help appreciated. Griffy

    Coiling extruded plastic pipe

On your coiler there should be a device we called a "dancer arm". The arm is linked to a potentiometer governing the speed of the uptake and thereby controlling the tension on the extrusion. As the tension increases a predetermined loop would pull up and raises the arm which in turn slows the...

Watertightness - spray testing: The physics of leaks

Minty, The test arrangements I encountered when working with automotive door seals made me believe that in order to assure leakproof joint one needed to have jets from multiple angles, volumes, and pressures. One of the more interesting stations resembled a car wash with the nozzles moving the...

    FLUID COUPLING's

Dry fluid centrifugal clutch. I first encountered them on large mixing equipment where they allowed a heavily loaded rotating drum to start turning. Griffy

    Rigidizing thermoformed ABS?

Lenhodder, If a sprayed-on material might be sufficient then would a strip of original material bonded to the out-of sight surface provide the additional reinforcement? Griffy

how to fill high viscoity liquid in small gap

Spoon, Depending how big this assembly is and how many you need to treat you might combine Ron's idea of sandwiching the parts with Berkshire's by adding the zerk to one of the plates. There is a bearing packer that uses this method to squeeze grease into bearings. Griffy

    LEAN Certification Opportunities

Debodine, Working with NC State is a good move. I had some interaction with them through their Manufacturing Extention Program on a couple of projects. I found them to be knowledgable and practical in their application of Lean. Griffy
