What polymer is this (or anything close)?

Hmmm … that’s news. Interesting. I face the typical independent Engineer’s problem. Once I explain the solution and the niche market it works in … neither party has any use for me further. Getting some kind of legal agreement up front is expensive/wasteful. I’ve seen a couple ‘good...

What polymer is this (or anything close)?

1000-2000 per month to begin with if strength and economics line up. What are your thoughts?

Can we PLEASE go back to the old forum!

Please fix "EDIT" so I can revise text to improve it when more info becomes available. Tnx! Bruce

What polymer is this (or anything close)?

These material samples exhibit really high stiffness with just a smidge of flexibility to take a hit w/o fracturing. The product is a composite construction siding described as a "proprietary polymeric resin and granular stone" (called C Core - Chelsea Building products) probably targeted as a...

what happened to "my groups" ? what happened to the "Round Table" ??

It would be nice if clicking on my account would let me see a list of all my past posts ... that was massively helpful. Best regards, Bruce

    FEA Standard Models: Accuracy Testing

Dave, Thanks for the Roark tip. Will look for it. Greg, I fully expect your estimate that the error will be tiny is right on the money … being new to this I need to burn some time assuring I am on the right track. Thanks Guys! Bruce

    FEA Standard Models: Accuracy Testing

Greg, Those are about as impressive as it gets! But I was curious more at a basic day to day working level. I’ve been experimenting with smaller packages and seemingly getting plausible results, but I was looking more for a model(s) I could duplicate, run and compare my results with “known...

    FEA Standard Models: Accuracy Testing

Are there any standard 3D models with material and load data that can be downloaded for testing of computational accuracy of FEA tools? (Or some equivalent?) Best regards, Bruce

    Good Source for Polyurethane Foams

Hi WK, Structural, mix-expanding-curing. Further research points needing a foam that cures to 12-16 lbs / cubic foot. (~300psi) I need to find a couple sources that can provide test samples to hone this in tighter. Thanks! B

    Good Source for Polyurethane Foams

Brian, Excellent site ... this looks like quite a good eng materials resource. Thank you for taking the time to share it :^) B

    Good Source for Polyurethane Foams

Can anyone recommend a good supply house that can deliver medium & high density PU foams? I spent 5 hr yesterday surfing/calling and only found one guy interested in making a sale, but he had to go find someone that could answer questions about their foams’ performance specs. I scan chemical...

    What 3D printer …

Yep, the X1E has it ... plus about another K in cost over the unit designed without it. https://www.matterhackers.com/store/l/bambu-lab-x1e-3d-printer/sk/MEQ5KJ70?rcode=SC_X1E&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0Oq2BhCCARIsAA5hubWkkRuJt8n6QA83EznVQZ1FEzevX79a_p7qbo0Bfx7zB70yfjLI1UwaAudIEALw_wcB...

    What 3D printer …

Thanks for your comment! Interesting. Does it have a bare RJ-45 jack? Another source (that could be wrong) said it was WiFi only. The PRUSA has a WiFi module that can be popped off from a vid I saw.

    What 3D printer …

I have a friend that has a PRUSA and swears by it. In my first look, I like that you don’t need to have it tied to the cloud. Bambu has some attractive features/pricing, but from my reading, you can’t run w/o being exposed to the Net. That’s a non-starter for my customers. Can’t blame them based...

    What 3D printer …

…. have you had good results with for early stage part design visualization? Speed, accuracy, materials Pros & Cons for it? Best regards, B

250F Heating Application: Need two flexible, different high temp fabrics

I wish I could be more specific, but confidentiality is up against my beans/cornbread stop. One of the basics I can say is very fast cycle times are necessary. Ovens/dips block/contaminate the secondary operations as well as potential for heated product damage during transfer in/out. The...

250F Heating Application: Need two flexible, different high temp fabrics

Mint, Watlow has some great custom work there. I will give them a call Monday to see where they stand on sizes/pricing. Part of the issue is my customer wants to keep as much as possible proprietary… that said, possibly integrating some off the shelf or semi custom products could satisfy both...

250F Heating Application: Need two flexible, different high temp fabrics

Yes, the tricky part with a metal fabric is the electrical conductivity with the resistance wires. Adding an electrical insulator to either the fabric or wire slows heat xfer. (But this is worth pursuing as I know nothing of what is available on the market. I'm thinking this problem has already...

250F Heating Application: Need two flexible, different high temp fabrics

I have a heating project that needs a flexible application of continuous heat as a two dimensional secondary operation takes place. To make the tool easy to construct, it would be helpful if the material could be sewn with a high temp Kevlar thread. The physical forces of tension in the fabric...

Does a material with these characteristics exist?

Ed, TPU is an interesting material (after a little reading). Pretty strong for a film. Thanks for the recco! B
