Interesting angle to be taken by Miami Herald, but I guess I'm not surprised to see that from them... South Florida, developers often demand exceptions to rules... this is a relative statement that's nothing more than a newspaper opining on this tragedy.
They come off sounding like they have...
There are cameras on that pool deck. Multiple cameras.
Wonder who has that video... I imagine some or all of the video is stored in the cloud?

Just sharing this theory in animated presentation.

This engineer is going with the idea that the pool/patio deck collapsed pulling the beams toward the deck causing the main sections of the condo to come down.
Looks plausible but not exactly sure...
Where did the video of the actual collapses come from?
Strange, that it's the only existing one to date that has been released to the public. It's clearly a cut from the original video file.
And it's been cropped right at the start of the collapse - who did that and why? Where did the video...
I'm moving further away from sinkhole or vibrations from a seismic event (submarine quake).
Further away from blame being cast on building contractors.
Neither of those are factors here.
The "quake" was not a natural one and was too far off shore (over 100 miles away from the hypocenter (shallow underground explosion). Both P and S waves would have lost much of their energy long before arriving at the site of the condo. M3.9 packs a good amount of energy at the hypocentral...
Well, the question was more in regards to what she was describing. I didn't notice the pool had drained. I initially thought she had described the pool as draining. But it seems that she was only describing that it was "sinking" or "caving in". I was trying to understand what she was...
I have a question regarding the alleged phone call with a woman who claimed to be in the building while she was on the phone with her husband just as this whole thing started.
She reportedly yelled "honey the pool is caving in, the pool is sinking to the ground".
From the recent photos, the...
Just incredible that people were walking by this on their way to their bedroom without any concern or alarm...
I'd be checking on the ground beneath it to see if there is any debris. That alone would certainly get my attention.
Is this part of the structure that is still standing? or another...
Wow... that's an interesting way of handling being rather direct and potentially hostile to a guest here... calling someone a "troll" on account of them using a commonly harmless idiom that only
might be pejorative or mocking. I've never heard of a such a thing. Good grief is an expression of...
@Jrs87
Why are you calling me a troll?
What's that all about?
Dik mentioned that there was a report in 2018 that mentions 'structural damage'. As a Californian, I usually only hear of structural damage caused by seismic activity.
How do I reply with a quote? Maybe that's why @jrs87 is not...
What type of collapse would this be officially referred to as?
I'm used to seeing damage from collapses caused by external forces such as natural disasters. But seeing these 'seemingly' random collapses like the pedestrian bridge at the Florida university is quite disturbing.
