    Live and Dead loads

Hello everyone, I want to analyse a structure for its Ultimate limit state and for that I need the moments due to the self weigth and due to an distrubuted applied load. SEPERATElY. To do this I created, apart from the already existing dead load, a load pattern for this distributed load with...

    Analysis time

Hello everyone! I am trying to find out the total time ABAQUS took to run the analysis, but only when the analysis is completed does the monitor function displays the ending time. When the job aborts (even when it reached the number of steps I establish) the only time it displays is the...

    Animation in ABAQUS

Hello everyone! So I am trying to save animation in ABAQUS but I don't want the legend of the name of the step/frame/total time to appear. Is there a way to deactivate that?? Thanks in advance.

    Abaqus - non increasing load(TF2)

Hello everyone! I am analyzing an SHS steel truss, simply supported, with concentrated forces (in Newtons) applied in the top nodes. The loads are applied in reference points that are constrained, type coupling, to the section of the chord. All the top nodes have a boundary condition to prevent...

    Defining a Riks, static step

No, I am not using any imperfections since the maximum force corresponds to the one obtained in a previous experimental test.

    Defining a Riks, static step

The problem I am facing is even though the stopping criteria is 400 mm at the point where the displacement is applied, the force and displacement stop before and the results for the following steps are constant( meaning there is no more increase of force and displacement even though the analysis...

    Riks vs General analysis

Hello everyone! I am analyzing an SHS steel truss, simply supported, with concentrated forces (in Newtons) applied in the top nodes. The loads are applied in reference points that are constrained, type coupling, to the section of the chord. All the top nodes have a boundary condition to prevent...

    Defining a Riks, static step

Hello everyone, I am analyzing a steel SHS truss, with am applied displacement at the tip. The truss displacement is laterally constrained and in that same sections, springs were modelled to simulate the fact that in a previous experimental test the lateral constraining system was at a certain...

Out of plane displacement - ABAQUS

Hello everyone, I'm analyzing a truss where I apply a vertical displacement (u2 direction and applied as 400mm) as well as an out of plane displacement (of 100 mm) in a reference point (RP1) that is connected to the chord section by a coupling constrain. At the same point, two springs were...

    ABAQUS - analysis output

I just did a quick analysis in SAP2000 and indeed the displacements in the nodes confirm. I was just trying to get the nodes to deform since that's what I am studying, and even after increasing the load I did not achieve their deformation. As for the materials, I will leave the following pictures.

    ABAQUS - analysis output

For the type of analysis, it's general static with NIgeom on. What do you mean by reference solution for displacements?

    Sketcher options

The problem is that when I input a number lower than 1e4 for example, 600, that message appears.

    Sketcher options

Hello everyone! So I'm doing an analysis on a big truss and to draw the welds I'm using the sketch option to partition the faces. That was until this warning appeared: Warning: The limit for coplanar entities has been exceeded; therefore, no entities will be automatically projected onto this...

    Instance rotation

Hello everyone, I'm trying to rotate an instance in Abaqus, displayed in the picture below. Every time I try it rotates along the x axis although I want to do it along the y axis. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much in advance.

    Changing geometry - Abaqus

Yes, that makes sense. If I create a set in the part section for each of the different elements, do the sets transfer to the merged part, and can I then make geometric/ property changes?(taking into account that I would have to rearrange the elements again)

    Changing geometry - Abaqus

Isn't there any way that I can modify the geometry after merging? I'm tight on time for redoing the truss in the part section and is much easier to arrange the different parts in the assembly section. Thank you in advance.

    Changing geometry - Abaqus

Hello everyone! So I have a truss modeled in Abaqus. For that, I made all the parts individually (the superior chord, inferior chord, and diagonals) and then went to the Assembly and created an instance to organize the truss and finally merged everything together. Now I wanted to change the...

How to fill a shell hole

Hello everyone, I have a 3D shell truss that as a chord with a hole used to pass a brace. Since now I want to remove that brace from the chord I'm left with a hole. Does anyone know an easy geometry property that I can use to fill that hole? I'll leave an image for better understanding. Thank...

    Boundary condition Abaqus- Elastic encastre

Hello everyone, So I have a CHS truss that is encastrated in the ending edges and this is defined in the initial step. But in the next step, where I apply a vertical load, I wanted to allow that boundary condition to rotate( I will leave a picture for a better understanding of the movement I...
