Appllying bolt pretension load in Abaqus Explicit Solver

That's great! thanks for your response. I will try using connectors

Appllying bolt pretension load in Abaqus Explicit Solver

My answer was against the previous question about bolt meshing only

Appllying bolt pretension load in Abaqus Explicit Solver

Hi, thanks for your response. I am using solid elements of 1mm x1mmx 1 mm mesh size. I am attaching two pictures: 1. The picture of the bolt after adding the bolt load (7 N). 2. The picture of the bolt after the post-buckling analysis where imported geometry from the bolt load file was...

Appllying bolt pretension load in Abaqus Explicit Solver

Yes, I agree. I modeled it for only one benchmark analysis, for checking. The analysis provides correct results when bolt pretension is not modeled. With the pretension, I am getting an artificial increase in the column capacity and also an incorrect failure mechanism that does not match my...

Appllying bolt pretension load in Abaqus Explicit Solver

Hello, Using a dynamic explicit solver in Abaqus, I am performing a post-buckling quasi-static analysis of thin-walled (2 mm thick) cold-formed steel C sections connected to a U section at both ends. As per my model geometry, the U-section is connected to hot rolled steel loading plates (12 mm...

Abaqus error in in keyword *BOUNDARY

Great! Thanks a lot. I will try as advised.

Abaqus error in in keyword *BOUNDARY

In the post-buckling analysis, imperfections were imported from the buckling analysis by the edit attribute function in Abaqus CAE in the input file. Is it because of importing the imperfections?

Abaqus error in in keyword *BOUNDARY

The support plates at both end and the loading plate at the top was created as discrete rigid plate elements. The reference points were created at the part level. I have used three seperate discrete rigid plates as loading plate and the two support plates.

Abaqus error in in keyword *BOUNDARY

Thanks, for your response. I applied the boundary condition at the reference points of the rigid rectangular plate elements. What should I do to get rid of this error?

Abaqus error in in keyword *BOUNDARY

Hello, I am doing a three-point bending analysis of a cold-formed steel beam. In the post-buckling analysis using the Abaqus explicit solver, I got the below error: in keyword *BOUNDARY, file "Job-18.inp", line 55500: Unknown assembly id 2 I have applied boundary conditions at the reference...

What is in-plane stiffness of contact element and how to calculate that

Thank you !, I will check the documentation chapter as advised.

What is in-plane stiffness of contact element and how to calculate that

Thanks for your response. Yes, it is stiffness in the tangential direction. It is Abaqus explicit analysis.

What is in-plane stiffness of contact element and how to calculate that

Hello, I am performing numerical simulations of the axial-compressive test of cold-formed steel-lipped channel sections (stud) connected to a small length of U sections (track) at both ends with self-tapping screws under axial-compressive loading (displacement-controlled loading along the...

    Query on contact pressure

Thanks for your response. I am very new to contact analysis in Abaqus. Could you please explain: 1. Does Abaqus provide CPRESS per node? I should create a node group on the Usection web to check the CPRESS? 2. What is meant by COPEN and STATUS? 3. How can they help me determine the right...

    Query on contact pressure

To Add to my query: Could you please provide me reference some more materials (articles or books) on how abaqus calculates contact pressure so I can refer to it?

    Query on contact pressure

Hello, I am performing a compression test of a Cold-formed steel channel column connected to the track (U section ) at both ends. I use a softened contact formulation in Abaqus explicit for normal behavior (Scale factor: using general contact explicit). I am also checking so that there is no...

Modeling soft contact with parabolic distribution in Abaqus

Hello, I am simulating a compression test on a cold-formed steel-lipped channel column (stud). The column is connected with a small length of a U section (track) at the top and bottom. There is a gap between the stud and the track, and I have modeled the gap. Initially, I defined the normal...

    Query_modeling soft contact in Abaqus

Thanks, I am doing a sensitivity study with k values, as you have advised. Could you have some idea of the k value from contact pressure? It would be great if you could provide some direction around this.
