    H2S Solubility in Brine

Looking for information on the solubility of H2S in concentrated brines (30000 to 40000 TDS or so) or even seawater at temperatures in the range of 100 to 200 deg F and atmospheric pressure. Need to understand if saturation limit is depressed significantly in brine solution compared to pure...

    Multi-phase condensate/steam line sizing

This is an issue for a plant expansion I am working. Have 75 psig condensate (at its bubble point) flowing from a flash tank (without a pump) to a distant tank #2 (several hundred meters) where it will flash to 3 psig or less. Just before the tank #2 is a control valve to maintain level in...

Liquid Control Valve Sizing with Large Quartiles of Dissolved Gases

For this problem in the past I have calculated two Cv values. One for the percent of flashed vapor expected downstream of the valve and a second one for the liquid fraction that does not flash. Then the two Cv values are added together as the valve Cv used for final valve selection. This...

    Flow Control Valve

A general sizing criteria for control valves on the discharge of a centrifugal pump is as follows: 50% of the resistance loss or 15 psi whichever is greater. Note this is resistance loss and not fixed head requirements based on elevation change or destination pressure. The 15 psi minimum is...

How do I cross the barrier?

You mentioned you were talking to "consulting" companies. If this is a correct reference then your experience has more in common with manufacturing, EPC, and the like. Usually when a consultant speaks to "professional" experience they want people capable of or a history of generating billable...

    Concentration of Salt Stream

usdesal, bimr reference to Ionics RCC is correct. Note that Ionics was recently absorbed into GE Infrastruture but web addresses have not changed yet. RCC phone in Seattle is 425.828.2400. Regards

Sodium Hypochlorite Residual Readings all over the board

Best pump for conentrated (12-15%) hypochlorite is a peristolic type. Off-gassing typically raises havoc with centrifugal (for large flows) and many times small PD chem pumps also. Off-gassing is catalyzed by metallic piping and fittings (stainless steel and C-276). Need to use plastic pipe...

    Solar Evaporation rate

acre equals 43,560 square feet 325,851 US gallons per acre-foot 15 mm equals 0.0492 foot 1 acre at 15 mm equals 16,032 gallons per day 16,032 / 24 / 60 = 11.1 gpm I checked with another colleague regarding evaporation rates in US desert. Suggested using "lake evaporation" rate and not "pan"...

    Solar Evaporation rate

15 mm (per day ??) calculates to about 11-12 gallons per minutes per acre. This seems high especially for high TDS brines. I don't know what other contingencies you have in your estimate but I would not use a number for design more than one-third of 15 mm or about 4 gpm per acre. Regards,

    Solar Evaporation rate

Google "pan evaporation rates". This provides a good series of links. Let me know if you can't find what you need. Regards,

    Solar Evaporation rate

I would suggest using published pan evaporation rates for an area like Las Vegas as a conservative design indicator of evaporation. Although Kuwait ambient can be 10-15 F higher any US desert numbers which are widely published should be a good place to start. Keep in mind that your blowdown...

    Concentration of Salt Stream

I have installed several 3-5 gpm calandria type crystallizers that take very similar streams to dryness for disposal. Crystallized mixed salts would be directed to a small pressure filter providing a salt cake with 5-15% moisture. Only question I might have is the presence of the sulfite as it...

    Orifice Plate Critical Pressure Ratio

EGT01 notes a reference from Cunningham, 1951. The article name is "Orifice Meters With Supercritical Compressible Flow". It is on pages 625 through 638 of the July 1951 issue of "Transactions of the ASME". This is the best general reference on this subject I am aware of...

    Low Flow Meters

How about a straight-forward chemical metering (or dosing) pump. Many varieties and levels of quality available. Precision dosing of chemicals unless it has to a continuous flow should be easy with these devices and calibration can be verified regularly with a calibration column draw-down.
