    Font plotting problems / conversion

I once had a similar problem (sort of) plotting to an OCE machine. However, when we plotted the same drawing to an HP the problem didn't exist. Just like your problem there was no predicting it from what was seen on the screen. Could your problem be in the plotter or driver(s)??? Maybe try...

Concrete C&G vs. Asphalt Wedge Curb

Please allow me to stir the pot a little and make a case against concrete curbing. 1. Concrete curb is not infallible to the effects of snowplowing. I see many, many examples of eyesore concrete curbs that have not fared well through New England winters. Did I mention the effects from salting...

    Cost of Drafting Services

I'm an EIT and do some drafting on the side for an engineer and charge about $100 for a 24x36 septic system/plot plan. This includes digitizing, adding notes and details and sometimes filling in missing grading, dimensions, etc. This rate is based on lots say 1-2 acres. Larger lots I may...

    Flow into footing drains

I think that in addition to soil properties you should also be considering the landscape surrounding the foundation. In general, groundwater tends to follow land topography. Therefore, if your foundation was at the bottom of hill or in some sort of valley, I would tend to think you'd want to...

    Sizing Stilling Basin

Thanks lha... you are correct in noting the difference. This basin is labeled as a stilling basin (and it will slow the flow) however the designer is attempting to also pass it as a mechanism for detaining the 25-yr storm, which it will not.

    Sizing Stilling Basin

cvg and Maury... thanks for the input, after doing some digging I realize why this design method is in fact incorrect. After reviewing the TR-55 manual (Chapters 2 & 4) I found that I could reasonably estimate the storage volume needed to have post development flow equal pre development. As it...

HDPE for use under a parking lot

I realize that this the odds of this happening are low, but I thought I'd post it anyway. There is a small town in Connecticut that has prohibited plastic drainage pipe because apparently some juveniles lit a fire in this type of pipe, subsequently causing some partial road collapses. I know...

    Sizing Stilling Basin

I've been asked to review a plan that involves the construcution of 3 apartment buildings and related parking in Connecticut. The total impervious area is approximately 5.5 acres and the 25-yr flow was calculated to be about 33 cfs. I don't have any issues with the flow calculation, however a...
