    Drawing views problem

Hey Packman; Sounds more like the graphics card & drivers, from what you are experiencing. Try turning "on" your software opengl (it will slow things down). Or/and, it could be the views are in draft mode, switch to high quality. My old ATI did this, as you now described. Was very frustrating...

    Drawing views problem

Have you broken your alignments between the views? If so, re-align them.

    Drawing rotation for printing

I have seen this problem, happens to me too. When printing in SW 2004, the print orientation may look as it is correct (in SW). However, going back to the "Windows" printer and setting the preferances there, for the portrait and landscape, then returning to SW should fix the problem...

Large Drawing Performance in 2004 SP 2.1

I would like to pass on, that there is actually two!!! temp directories. The first one is created by SW, in the systems options (you all know that one)and contains your backup files. However, the second one hides in you "local settings/temp" which stores your recoverable files when the...

Time to open assembly files in 2004

Hey there; I've been informed by Solidworks that there is a problem with the materials code.... causing loading problems and general slowdown. It's due to be fixed in 2004 SP2.4. I've been pulling out what's left of my hair, because of this lack of performance. You people should try assemblies...

    Drawings are very slow

Hey there; Yes, I do daily maint., and work locally. Got fed up with all the network problems within Solidworks. I believe the file reduction has something to do with "shadowing", just a mumbo jumbo for poor database management. I'll try the different user trick. Thanks for the tip.

    Drawings are very slow

Yes, I've tried the draft quality, provides some relief. Done the light weight, but that will corrupt the BOM/Balloons (known issue). It's like that each of the sections is storing the full part model data of every part from the assembly and not releasing/discarding the unnecessary hidden data...

    Drawings are very slow

I have the same problem here!!!! Tried all the tips. As I create a new drawing of a large assembly (500 pcs) or of a single complex part (The standard three views, an isometric and BOM) result in a 1.7MB file. Works well and I'm happy with that. (2.4 Ghz, 1 Gb ram, XGL 750... no slouch) Now...

    Auto Recovery Problem

Sorry, I quoted myself wrongly about the directory. I know about the right one. Anyways, rebuilds......??? are you sure. Even my VAR, never mentioned rebuilds (didn't even know about the new switch). Got to try this out. Thanks for the big tip!!!!! I'll let you know.

    SW04 BOM moving

I think I've seen this. If you have SP1, go back and confirm you column widths, row heights and font size. Also, recheck the font size for your tables in document properties, to see if they are all the same. Nice about SP1, they now allow you to specify column widths to your choosing.

    SW 2004 Anotation problem

Yes, I know what you mean. You need a feature, so that the GDT will be attached. Even if you dimensioned to a common plane, the control box will not attach to a plane. I've put in an enhancement request already, maybe you should too? Also, I have found that the GDT boxes can not be rotated...

    Auto Recovery Problem

Has anyone experienced auto-recover problems (2004 SP1)? No auto recovery. Yes, I know about the new switch in system options/performance (default is set to '0'). But, still no files are being created in the swtemp directory, just many folders.

Has anyone found benefit in using a Dual CPU?

Thanks for the input!!! Single 3.2, is the way to go, for the work I do. Not big on multitasking anyways.

Has anyone found benefit in using a Dual CPU?

Thinking of doing an upgrade and just wondering if anyone has found it beneficial, using Solidworks 2004 SP1 on a Dual CPU workstation? Currently I have a 2.4Ghz, 1 Gb, but the CPU is just bogged down with some of my very large rebuild/redraws for 10 minutes (and yes I invoke light weights).
